The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America [NEW YORK] announced that Andrew J. McMahon will become Chief Executive Officer and President on October 1, 2020 and has joined the Board. McMahon succeeds Deanna M. Mulligan, who will serve as Board Chair through year-end, when she will retire after leading the company for a decade. McMahon joined Guardian in 2017 as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Customer Development, and took on leadership of the Individual Markets business in 2019. McMahon was named President last November.
Kyriba® [SAN DIEGO, CA] announced it has appointed Hamza Benamar as Chief Financial Officer. Benamar has held roles at industry-leading public and private companies, including Amgen, Wolters Kluwer and SunGard.
MedRisk [KING OF PRUSSIA, PA] announced that Mike Ryan has been appointed’s Executive Chairman and has promoted Ken Martino, to CEO and President. Martino has held senior executive positions with leading third-party administrators and insurers for over 35 years. Martino served for more than a decade on the Kids’ Chance of America board before being elected as its President for 2020-21 terms.
JBT Corporation [CHICAGO, IL] (NYSE: JBT) announced that Brian Deck will resume his role as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Tom Giacomini has decided that he is unable to return as Chief Executive Officer of JBT and has stepped down. Giacomini has also resigned from the Board of Directors.
Lumileds [SAN JOSE, CA] announced the appointment of Matt Roney as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2020. Roney most recently served as President of Lumileds’ Automotive Business Unit and succeeds Jonathan Rich who will continue with the company as Executive Chairman of the Board. Prior to joining Lumileds, Roney served as Chief Operating Officer for Stanley Infrastructure, a division of Stanley Black & Decker. Previously, Roney was the President of Paladin Attachments, which was acquired by Stanley Infrastructure. Roney also spent eight years at TRW Automotive, in roles of rising responsibility, including Vice President and General Manager of its Global Steering Business.
Legend Biotech Corporation [SOMERSET, NJ] (NASDAQ: LEGN) announced that it has appointed Ying Huang as interim Chief Executive Officer. Huang will continue to hold his position of Chief Financial Officer. Huang brings more than nine years of experience in research and development at major pharma and 12 years of experience as a biotechnology analyst on Wall Street. Prior to joining Legend Biotech, Huang was Managing Director and Head of Biotech Equity Research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and, prior to that, held posts at Wachovia, Credit Suisse, Gleacher and Barclays. Prior to his Wall Street career, Huang was a Principal Scientist at Schering-Plough (now Merck & Co.) in the Department of Chemical Research.
The Howard Hughes Corporation® [HOUSTON, TX] (NYSE: HHC) announced that David O’Reilly, President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer. Paul Layne has retired as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 17, 2020. Layne will also step down from the Company’s Board of Directors. O’Reilly has served as Chief Financial Officer at The Howard Hughes Corporation since 2016 and expanded his role when he was appointed President in June 2020.
IAPMO [ONTARIO, CA] announced that IAPMO Chief Operating Officer/Executive Vice President Dave Viola has been appointed to chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2021, taking over for GP Russ Chaney, who is retiring after a quarter-century at the helm of the association. Viola joined IAPMO in 2007 and has served as IAPMO’s chief operating officer for the past seven years. Prior to joining IAPMO, Viola served as technical director for the Plumbing Manufacturers Institute for nine years. Before PMI, Viola worked for BOCA International and the International Code Council as a staff engineer.
Babson Diagnostics [AUSTIN, TX] has appointed David Stein former head of global strategy and innovation at Siemens Healthineers, to chief executive officer. Eric Olson, Babson’s founder and former CEO, will assume the roles of chairman of the board and chief operating officer. Stein also serves as a board member for Babson.
National Black MBA Association® [ATLANTA, GA] announced that Joseph “Joe” Handy as President and CEO, effective October 5, 2020. Handy most recently served as the President of Georgia Aquarium Foundation, having served as Georgia Aquarium’s President and Chief Operating Officer since 2017. Bruce Thompson, NBMBAA® Interim President & CEO, will remain with the Association in a consultancy role through the end of the year.
Concorde Career Colleges [MISSION, KS] has named Jami Frazier as CEO. Frazier has been a Concorde executive for 13 years, previously serving as President and COO. Frazier currently serves on two boards – the Central States Private Education Network and California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools. Frazier’s previous roles at Concorde have included Senior Vice President of Operations, Vice President-Central Region, Kansas City Campus President, Vice President of Student Affairs and National Director of Student Services at Concorde. Prior to Concorde, Frazier held several roles in the higher education division of Kaplan Inc., and in secondary education for ACCESS.
Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern Connecticut [WINDSOR, CT] announced the appointment of Robin G. Sharp to serve as the organization’s new President and CEO, effective November 2, 2020. Most recently Executive Director of the Connecticut chapter of Alzheimer’s Association, Sharp also served as Executive Director at YWCA New Britain. Sharp will succeed Allen Gouse who, earlier this year informed the Board of his desire to retire.
Isagenix International [GILBERT, AZ] has promoted Sharron Walsh to chief executive officer. Walsh joined Isagenix in 2009 and has served in several key roles, including general manager of Australia and New Zealand. Most recently, Walsh was president of global sales and marketing. Walsh succeeds Travis Ogden, who had been with the company since 2016.
Synchronoss Technologies, Inc. [BRIDGEWATER, NJ] (NASDAQ: SNCR) announced that it has appointed Jeff Miller as interim President and Chief Executive Officer, in addition to his role as Chief Commercial Officer. Miller succeeds Glenn Lurie who has resigned as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of its Board of Directors. Miller joined Synchronoss in 2018 as Chief Commercial Officer from IDEAL Industries, where he was President of the Technology Group. Miller previously served 16 years with Motorola, most recently as Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Operations in North America for Motorola Mobility, LLC, a division of Lenovo, and held various leadership positions in Sales Management, Marketing and Product Management at AT&T during an 11-year tenure.
BlueCat [TORONTO, ON] announced that Stephen Devito has been named Chief Executive Officer effective September 11, 2020. Michael Harris, who has served as BlueCat’s CEO for the past eight years, has decided to step down and will remain on the BlueCat Board of Directors. Devito, who joined the company as Chief Financial Officer in February 2018, has also served as Chief Operations Officer since early 2020.
Fortis Inc. [ST. JOHN’S, NL] (NYSE: FTS) announced the retirement of Barry Perry, President and CEO, from Fortis and the Board, effective December 31, 2020. David Hutchens, currently Chief Operating Officer of Fortis and CEO of UNS Energy, will succeed Perry and join the Board, effective January 1, 2021. Hutchens has been with UNS Energy for 25 years. Hutchens assumed the position of President and CEO, UNS Energy in May 2014.
Anything Technologies Media, Inc. [TUCSON, AZ] (OTC: EXMT) appointed Lee Katterman as the new CEO replacing Richard Wilson. Katterman started his career founding R&R Bicycle which grew into 4 retail locations and to become one of the top Trek bicycle retailers in the southwest.
Cleveland Clinic [CLEVELAND, OH] has named Conor Delaney as President and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic Florida region, effective Oct. 15, 2020. Delaney currently serves as chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute. Delaney first joined Cleveland Clinic in 1999 as a fellow. Joseph Iannotti who served as interim CEO and President for the Florida region since June of this year, will continue in his roles as Chief of Staff, and Chief Academic and Innovation Officer for the Cleveland Clinic Florida region.
Invest Alberta Corporation [CALGARY, AB] announced David Knight Legg as the Corporation’s first Chief Executive Officer. Legg has executive experience with various boards and commissions through his work at McKinsey, Gerson Lehrman Group, and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Boston Insurance Brokerage LLC [BOSTON, MA] has announced the appointment of Keith Driscoll as their CEO. Driscoll has been member of the Boston Insurance Brokerage team since 2013, beginning as Vice President of the Workers Compensation Division before being promoted to Executive Vice President/Chief Operation Officer in September of 2017. Prior to BIB, Driscoll held positions at Markel FirstComp. In addition, Driscoll spent several years in marketing and operations at Anheuser-Busch’s Michelob Championship at Kingsmill and IMG as Director of Operations of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Cambridge Semantics [BOSTON, MA] announced the appointment of Brian D. Owen as Chief Executive Officer. Owen steps in to fill the role of Chuck Pieper, who had served a dual role as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Pieper will remain actively involved at Cambridge Semantics as Chairman of the Board. Owen previously served in executive roles with leading enterprise technology companies, including r4 Technologies, SunGard, ORACLE Corporation, MapInfo and Computer Associates, among others.
UNS Energy [TUCSON, AZ] has named Susan M. Gray as Chief Executive Officer of UNS Energy and its subsidiaries, including Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services, effective Jan. 1, 2021. Gray, currently the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer, will succeed CEO David G. Hutchens, who has been named as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Inc., UNS Energy’s parent company, effective Jan. 1, 2021. Gray began her TEP career 26 years ago as a student intern. Gray was hired as a system engineer in 1997 and advanced through several engineering and leadership roles before being named Vice President of Energy Delivery in 2015. Gray was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2018 and became President and Chief Operating Officer this year. Gray will continue as President and will join the UNS Energy Board of Directors when she takes over as CEO.
Independence Health Group [PHILADELPHIA, PA] announced that President and CEO Daniel J. Hilferty has decided to retire from his position effective December 31, 2020. Gregory E. Deavens, currently executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Independence, will assume the role of President and CEO effective January 1, 2021. Hilferty will continue to serve in an advisory capacity through the end of 2022. Prior to joining Independence, Deavens was with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company from 2006 to 2016, where he served as the company’s senior vice president and corporate controller. Deavens’ earlier experience includes leadership roles with New York Life, CIGNA, and GE Capital.
GoFan [ATLANTA, GA] announced that B.J. Pilling has been appointed as its new CEO. Pilling most recently served as GoFan’s vice president, Digital. Prior to GoFan, Pilling spent eight years with Huddle Tickets.
Lighter Capital [SEATTLE, WA] appointed Melissa Widner as its CEO. Prior to joining Lighter Capital, Widner served as the Managing Partner at NAB Ventures. Melissa was also a General Partner at Seattle-based venture capital firm, SeaPoint Ventures.
CircleBlack, Inc. [NEW YORK] announced that it has appointed Alex Sauickie as Chief Executive Officer and President. The appointment is the culmination of a search process following the sudden and tragic passing of CircleBlack’s former CEO John Michel. Prior to joining CircleBlack, Sauickie served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Scivantage, Inc. Sauickie joined Scivantage from SaaS billing platform Billtrust after serving as COO of Unified. Previously, Sauickie was Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Operations and Services of Albridge Solutions.
LRN Corporation [NEW YORK] announced the appointment of Kevin Michielsen as Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Michielsen was CEO of Watermark. Prior to that, Michielsen was President of American Lawyer Media, and held leadership roles at Visant Corporation, LexisNexis and McKinsey & Company.
TC Energy Corporation [CALGARY, AB] (NYSE: TRP) announced Russ Girling’s retirement as President and Chief Executive Officer and from its Board of Directors effective December 31, 2020. François Poirier will succeed Girling as President and Chief Executive Officer and will join the Board January 1, 2021. Girling will assist Poirier with the transition through February 28. Poirier currently serves as Chief Operating Officer as well as holding the roles of President, Power & Storage and Mexico. François was Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development and the Company’s Chief Risk Officer from 2017 to 2019. Poirier joined the Company in 2014 as President, Energy East Pipeline. Prior to joining TC Energy, Poirier spent close to 25 years in investment banking, where he ran JP Morgan’s North American Power and Pipeline Investment Banking business in New York and more recently, as founding President of Wells Fargo Securities Canada. From 2007 to 2011, Poirier served as an independent director of Capital Power Income LP.
RocketFuel Blockchain, Inc. [LAS VEGAS, NV] (OTC: RKFL) announced that it had appointed Peter M. Jensen as its CEO. Jensen will also join RocketFuel’s board of directors. Gert Funk will step down as CEO but remain as Chairman of the Board. Jensen was most recently CEO of Spanugo, which was sold to IBM in 2020. Prior to that Jensen was CEO of Presidiohealth; ParStream,; and Stopthehacker.com, which was acquired by Cloudflare in 2014. Jensen was also Vice President of Sales at Pancetera, which was acquired by Quantum in 2011, and of Thinstall, which was acquired by VMWare in 2008.
Veritiv [ATLANTA, GA] (NYSE: VRTV) has announced that Salvatore A. Abbate has been named the company’s Chief Executive Officer as Mary A. Laschinger, current Chairman and CEO, retires from the organization, effective September 30, 2020. Abbate joined Veritiv in April 2018 as the Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. In January 2020, Abbate was named Chief Operating Officer. Abbate joined Veritiv from Andersen Windows & Doors, Inc. where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer. Prior to that, Abbate was Vice President – Global Sales and Marketing for the Performance Films Division of Solutia, Inc.
PILGRIM’S PRIDE CORPORATION [GREELY, CO] appointed Fabio Sandri, the Company’s Chief Financial Officer, to the additional role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Effective June 15, 2020, Sandri was appointed to serve in the additional role of Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Jayson Penn, who had been on a paid leave of absence from his role as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer since June 15, 2020, is no longer with the Company effective September 22, 2020. Sandri has been the Company’s Chief Financial Officer since June 2011 and its Interim President and Chief Executive Officer since June 2020. From April 2010 to June 2011, Sandri served as the chief financial officer of Estacio Participações. From November 2008 until April 2010, Sandri was the chief financial officer of Imbra SA.
VIVI HOLDINGS, INC. [BOCA RATON, FL] appointed Leandro Trindade Freire as interim CEO. Freire has worked as Vice President of Operations for the Company since October 2019. Prior to working for the Company, Freire worked for six years at Essentra. Prior to that, Freire was in charge of the operation in Paraguay to supply Tear Tapes in the LATAM region to global customers in the tobacco and food industry, such as BAT, PMI, Nestle, Pepsico, and Mondelez.
TRANS-LUX CORPORATION [NEW YORK] appointed Nicholas Fazio to be the Company’s Chief Executive Officer. Fazio was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer on April 14, 2020, and was appointed a director of the Company on November 19, 2018. Fazio has been Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unilumin North America Inc. since 2017.
