Glassdoor [MILL VALLEY, CA] announced president and chief operating officer Christian Sutherland-Wong has been promoted to chief executive officer. Glassdoor CEO and co-founder Robert Hohman will step down and remain with Glassdoor as chairman. Both appointments become effective on January 6, 2020. Sutherland-Wong was named Glassdoor president earlier this year and appointed as the company’s first COO in February 2018. Sutherland-Wong joined the company in 2015 as vice president and general manager of monetization. Previously, Sutherland-Wong held roles at LinkedIn and Bain & Company.
Ortho Clinical Diagnostics [RARITAN, NJ] announced that it has appointed Chris Smith as Chief Executive Officer effective September 9, 2019. Smith will succeed Robert Yates who is stepping down as CEO. Yates will continue to serve as Ortho’s non-Executive Chairman as a member of the board of directors. Smith most recently served as the CEO of Cochlear Limited, from 2015 through 2018. Smith also served as the President of Cochlear Americas for more than a decade. Prior to Cochlear, Smith held several senior executive roles including CEO in Residence for Warburg Pincus and Global Group President of Gyrus Group Plc.
Innovative Water Care LLC [ALPHARETTA, GA] announced the appointment of Robert P. Baird, Jr. as Chief Executive Officer. Brandon Crawley, Principal at Platinum Equity, had been serving as Innovative Water Care’s interim CEO. Baird has previously served as the CEO for A.T. CROSS, as well as the CEO at Dorel Sports and Chief Customer Officer at Royal Philips Electronics.
Goddard Systems, Inc. [KING OF PRUSSIA, PA] announced that Dennis R. Maple has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Maple succeeds Joe Schumacher, who has been GSI’s CEO for the past ten years. Schumacher will remain in an advisory role as the Chairman of GSI’s Board of Directors. Maple’s 37-year professional career includes the last five years as President of First Student, Inc., North America’s largest K-12 school bus transportation services company, and ten years at Aramark Corporation where he served as President of Aramark Education.
Udacity [SAN FRANCISCO] announced the appointment of Gabriel Dalporto as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Dalporto joins Udacity from LendingTree, where he served in several leadership roles throughout his seven-year tenure, including Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
FairWarning [CLEARWATER, FL] announced the appointment of Ed Holmes as Chief Executive Officer. Holmes is taking over from Interim CEO Patrick Marschall. Holmes was previously the CEO of Peoplenet, until its acquisition by Bullhorn in 2017, at which time Holmes became the SVP of Workforce & Revenue Cloud at Bullhorn.
ReAlta Life Sciences [NORFOLK, VA] announced that Ulrich Thienel has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer. Ulrich was formerly Chief Medical Officer at Finch Therapeutics, Boston. Prior to Finch, Ulrich had 20 years of biopharmaceutical drug development leadership, with experience in both biotech and large pharma, including Johnson & Johnson, BMS, and Takeda.
Turner Scientific [JACKSONVILLE, FL] has named David Hicks as Chief Executive Officer. Hicks, formerly Turner Scientific’s business development manager for contract research, will continue to oversee marketing of the company’s research operations. Prior to Turner Scientific, Hicks served as Director of Clinical and Business Operations at Fortuna Fix, Inc., and Vice President of Fleetridge Pacific.
Harmonic Bionics, Inc. [AUSTIN, TX] announced that Christopher Prentice has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and member of the Harmonic Bionics Board of Directors. Prentice succeeds Youngmok Yun, who is a co-founder of the company and who will remain in the role of Chief Technology Officer/Chief Operating Officer. Most recently Prentice was Vice President of Commercial Integration at Medtronic. Prior to his position at Medtronic, he was CEO of Mazor Robotics, Inc. and Chief Commercial Officer of Mazor Robotics Ltd.. Prior to joining Mazor Robotics in 2010, Prentice worked in finance at Tampa General Hospital and held sales positions at Intuitive Surgical.
PayScale, Inc. [SEATTLE, WA] announced that Scott Torrey will take on the role of CEO in a planned succession from CEO Mike Metzger. Torrey is a former 20-year senior executive with SAP/Concur. Torrey joined Concur in 1999 as part of the early management team in a leading, global SaaS company. He successfully served in several senior executive roles across multiple functions over the last two decades, including EVP Operations, VP Implementation & Customer Support and EVP Public Sector.
Dynatronics Corporation [COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, UT](NASDAQ: DYNT) announced that the company has promoted Brian Baker to Chief Executive Officer. Baker also joins the company’s Board of Directors. Baker succeeds. Christopher von Jako, the company’s previous CEO. Baker joined Dynatronics in January 2018 to lead the company’s operations in Utah and Tennessee and was recently named chief operating officer with oversight over company-wide operations. Prior to joining Dynatronics, Baker served as Vice President, Global Operations for SeaSpine Holdings Corporation from July 2015 to January 2018, after serving as Vice President, Operations of the SeaSpine business within Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corporation from March 2015.
BioMatrix Specialty Pharmacy [WESTON, FL] announced it has selected Nick Karalis as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Karalis, who currently serves as BioMatrix Chief Operating Officer, assumed the role on July 1, 2019. Karalis was a founding principal and CEO of Elwyn Pharmacy Group, which became part of BioMatrix in 2017.
Goedeker’s [ST. LOUIS, MO] has named Doug Moore as Chief Executive Officer.. Moore succeeded Steve Goedeker, who has led the company since 1977. Moore has served as the hhgregg Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer, and he also held key roles for Sears, as the Senior Vice President-Hardlines and the President of Appliances. Moore also held a 17-year tenure with Circuit City that culminated with his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer.
Pacific Mercantile Bancorp [COSTA MESA, CA] (Nasdaq: PMBC) announced the appointment of Brad R. Dinsmore as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Mercantile Bancorp and Pacific Mercantile Bank. Dinsmore succeeds Thomas M. Vertin, who has resigned from the Company and the Bank. Dinsmore has 32 years of banking experience and most recently served as Corporate Executive Vice President for SunTrust Banks in Atlanta, Georgia.
Confirm BioSciences [SAN DIEGO, CA] announced Albert “Albie” Berger has been selected as chief executive officer. Berger succeeds founder Zeynep Ilgaz, who will assume the roles of chairwoman of the board of directors and chief advisor. Prior to joining Confirm BioSciences, Berger served as the vice president and general manager of Redwood Toxicology Laboratory, a division of Alere Toxicology until its acquisition by Abbott Laboratories in October 2017. Prior, Berger served as the company’s chief executive officer and president.
AMNICELL [NEW YORK] announced that Helen Ljungdahl Round has been appointed as CEO, effective July 1, 2019. Ljungdahl Round’s experience includes positions as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing & Business Development for GN Hearing, and, before that, numerous executive leadership positions of increasing responsibility at Merck & Co, Inc, working in EU, Middle East/Africa, North America, Latin America and Asia.
Aramark [PHILADELPHIA, PA] (NYSE: ARMK) announced that Chairman, President & CEO Eric Foss is retiring from the company.
Insurity, Inc. [HARTFORD, CT] announced the appointment of Chris Lafond as its chief executive officer, succeeding Chris Giglio, who will remain on Insurity’s board of directors. Lafond has been part of the Insurity executive team since 2017, previously serving as the company’s chief financial officer.
Ontario Systems [MUNCIE, IN] announced that Jason Harrington, President of Ontario Systems, will succeed retiring Co-Founder and CEO Ron Fauquher to become the fourth CEO in the company’s nearly 39-year history. Harrington has been with the company for 22 years and brings 24 years’ experience in finance, marketing, sales, software operations, and technical support to his new role as CEO. Going forward, Fauquher will serve as an advisor to Ontario Systems’ Board of Directors, CEO, and management team.
