Willie’s Restaurants [HOUSTON] announced that Gregory Lippert has been appointed as president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Willie’s Restaurants, Lippert served as CEO of Taco Mac, which resulted in the brand’s successful sale to Fresh Hospitality. Lippert was also CEO of Quaker Steak & Lube where he reversed negative sales trends in just seven months and lead the acquisition by Travel Centers of America. Before Quaker Steak & Lube, Lippert directed 155 Mazzio’s, Zio’s Italian Kitchen, and Oliveto restaurants as CEO of Mazzio’s Corporation.
Overstock.com, Inc. [SALT LAKE CITY, UT] (NASDAQ: OSTK) announced the appointment of Jonathan E. Johnson III as its Interim Chief Executive Officer in the wake of the resignation of Patrick M. Byrne as CEO and member of the Board. Johnson has been with the Company for nearly 17 years and serves on the Board and as the President of Medici Ventures, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary focusing on blockchain innovation.
Manitex International, Inc. [BRIDGEVIEW, IL] (NASDAQ: MNTX) announced that the Board of Directors has unanimously approved the appointment of Steve Filipov as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Manitex International, effective September 1, 2019. Filipov comes to Manitex most recently as the President of Terex Cranes, from 2016 until the sale of Demag Mobile Cranes at the end of July, 2019.
FuelCell Energy, Inc. [DANBURY, CT] (Nasdaq: FCEL) announced the appointment of Jason Few as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Few joined the FuelCell Energy Board of Directors in November 2018. Few will continue to serve on the board of FuelCell Energy as a non-independent director.
Blue Nile [SEATTLE, WA] announced the appointment of Sean Kell as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Jason Goldberger, who has left to pursue another opportunity. Kell most recently served as Chief Executive Officer at A Place for Mom.
Sur La Table [SEATTLE, WA] announced the appointment of Jason Goldberger as Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors. Most recently, Goldberger was with Blue Nile, where he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors, since 2017. Previously, Goldberger served as Chief Digital Officer and President of target.com.
Sapphire Digital [LYNDHURST, NJ] announced that Kyle Raffaniello, who has been serving as the company’s interim chief executive officer since August 2019, has officially been named chief executive officer.
Zep, Inc. [ATLANTA, GA] announced that it has appointed Dan Smytka as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 3, 2019. Most recently, Smytka was the President for Goodyear’s Global Off-Highway businesses. Previously, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Goodyear’s EMEA region. Before that, he served in leadership roles in Asia Pacific for seven years, including four years as President of that region. Prior to joining Goodyear, Smytka was President of the North American Building Systems & Services division of Carrier Corporation from 2007 to 2008. Smytka previously worked for 17 years at the General Electric Company, where he held positions including President of its Engineered Systems division, President of the Asia Pacific Consumer and Industrial Group and General Manager of the refrigeration product line.
Alive [NASHVILLE, TN] announced the appointment of Kimberly Goessele as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 23. Goessele succeeds Anna-Gene O’Neal, who led the organization from 2012 to 2019. Goessele joins Alive from 180 Health Partners, where she served as Chief Operating Officer. Goessele also held the position of Executive Director of the 180 Impact Fund, the 501(c) arm of the organization.
SoftNAS® [HOUSTON] announced that Garry Olah will join the company as president and chief executive officer. Prior to SoftNAS, Olah was both a partner at Prime Foray and founder and managing partner of Vedify. His
StepStone Group [NEW YORK] has named Scott Hart as Co-CEO. Hart will work closely with Monte Brem, a founding partner and CEO since 2007, overseeing the firm’s management and strategic direction. After working at Morgan Stanley and TPG Capital, Hart joined StepStone in 2007.
Westell Technologies, Inc. [AURORA, IL] (NASDAQ: WSTL) announced that its Board of Directors has chosen Timothy Duitsman as the Company’s new President and CEO, effective September 1, 2019. Duitsman succeeds Alfred S. (Stephen) John, who will be leaving the Company. Since 2012, Duitsman served as Senior Vice President of Product Development at Klein Tools. Duitsman initially joined Klein Tools in 2009 as the Vice President of Engineering. Prior to that, Duitsman served as Vice President of Research and Development at Intermatic. Previously, Duitsman served in various engineering and leadership roles at Westell. Duitsman has served as a Director of the Company since June 2019.
Ebb Therapeutics [PITTSBURGH, PA] announced that its added Eduard Röösli as its new President & CEO. Don Spence, Ebb’s outgoing CEO, will remain as a member of its Board of Directors. Most recently, Röösli was Managing Director for Image Skincare. He previously spent four years as the Global General Manager for Boston-based, Shaser Bioscience Inc. Prior to that, Röösli was President & CEO of Bramont S.A. Brazil.
OPTrust [TORONTO, ON] announced the appointment of Peter Lindley as the President and CEO of the organization, effective September 16, 2019. Most recently Lindley was President and Head of Investments for State Street Global Advisors Ltd. (SSGA Canada). He was with SSGA for the last 14 years. Prior to leading SSGA, Lindley held senior roles at Deutsche Bank and CIBC World Markets in Toronto.
HP Inc. [PALO ALTO, CA] (NYSE: HPQ) announced that it has unanimously appointed Enrique Lores, currently President of HP’s Imaging, Printing and Solutions business, to succeed Dion Weisler as the company’s President and CEO, effective November 1. Weisler’s decision to step down at this time is due to a family health matter and he will be returning home to Australia. Lores began his HP career 30 years ago as an engineering intern and has risen to increasingly prominent leadership positions across the company’s Print, Personal Systems and Services businesses. Since 2015, Lores has served as President of HP’s Imaging, Printing and Solutions business.
Janus International Group, LLC [TEMPLE, GA, & SANTA MONICA, CA] announced that long-time Janus executive Ramey Jackson will succeed David Curtis as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2, 2019. Curtis, who announced his retirement, will remain with the company in the role of Co-Chairman of Janus’ Board of Directors. Jackson has served in many executive and leadership roles within Janus, most recently as Vice President of Sales.
Jun Group [NEW YORK] announced the retirement of its founder and CEO Mitchell Reichgut. Reichgut, who spent eighteen years of his advertising career building the company to over 100 employees across five offices, will retire to pursue writing, artwork and community service. The company’s current COO and President, Corey Weiner, will take over as CEO.
ZeroNorth [BOSTON], announced that John Worrall has been named chief executive officer. Worrall succeeds founder and chairman Ernesto DiGiambattista as CEO; DiGiambattista remains with ZeroNorth as Board chair. Prior to ZeroNorth, Worrall consulted with early stage cyber companies in the areas of strategy and growth planning. Before that, Worrall was chief marketing officer at CyberArk. Worrall also held executive leadership positions at CounterTack and ActivIdentity, and also served as vice president and general manager of the Security Intelligence & Event Management business unit at RSA.
Elixir Technologies Corporation [OJAI, CA] announced that it has appointed Tarek Harry as Chief Executive Officer. Tarek assumed his new role on July 1, 2019, succeeding his father, former CEO and Elixir Technologies founder Basit Hamid. Tarek joined Elixir Technologies in 2014 and was promoted to Chief Operations Officer two years later.
The Brandware Group, Inc. [ATLANTA, GA] has appointed Lou Laste as agency CEO, effective September 9, 2019. Most recently Laste successfully launched and grew a boutique communications firm, specializing in B2B technology and automotive clients that will now join Brandware’s consumer and B2B client community. Prior to his entrepreneurial venture, Laste held executive marketing communications positions at industry-leading companies such as Cox and Verizon.
Woman’s Hospital [BATON ROUGE, LA] announced that Barbara Griffith has been selected as the new chief executive officer. Griffith will assume the role of CEO from Robert Burgess, who has acted as interim CEO since Teri Fontenot’s retirement earlier this year. Griffith, currently serves as the chief medical officer and chief of business operations for Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, N.C. Earlier in her career, Griffith served as president (2005-2014) and, more recently, CFO (2014-2019) of Durham Emergency Physicians.
Covia [INDEPENDENCE, OH] (NYSE: CVIA) announced that it has appointed Richard Navarre President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2019. In conjunction with Navarre’s appointment, he will continue to serve as Covia’s Board Chair. Navarre has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Covia since June 2018, and as interim President and Chief Executive Officer since May 2019. Navarre has more than 35 years of leadership in the mining industry, including having previously served as the President and Chief Commercial Officer of Peabody Energy Corporation.
