Conversocial [NEW YORK] announced that Ido Bornstein-HaCohen was promoted to CEO. Founder and former CEO Joshua March will remain on the company’s board. Bornstein-HaCohen joined Conversocial as COO in 2017.
Paycor [CINCINNATI, OH] announced the appointment of Raul Villar, Jr. as Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2019. Villar will succeed Bob Coughlin, who will be elevated to the role of Chairman of Paycor’s Board of Directors. Villar joins Paycor from AdvancedMD, where he served as CEO since 2015. Villar previously spent 26 years in the HCM industry in a series of management positions with increasing responsibilities, including President of ADP AdvancedMD from 2011 to 2015.
Platelet BioGenesis [CAMBRIDGE, MA] announced the hiring of Sam Rasty as President and CEO. Rasty was most recently the Chief Operating Officer of Homology Medicines, Inc. Before joining Homology Medicines, Rasty held leadership positions at biopharma industry stalwarts including Shire Pharmaceuticals, where he served as Vice President and Head of New Products, GlaxoSmithKline, where he was Director of Portfolio Management and Global Commercial Strategy, and Endo Pharmaceuticals, where he served as Director of Corporate Development.
Squarex [ST. PAUL, MN] announced the appointment of Jack V. Talley, Jr. as Chief Executive Officer. Hugh McTavish, one of Squarex’s original founders, will remain Chairman of the Board. Talley currently serves on the board of Mitotherapeutix. Previously, Talley served as CEO for five clinical-stage drug companies over a 19-year span, during which he took three companies public. Most recently, Talley served as CEO, President and Director of Izun Pharmaceuticals.
CapSpecialty [NEW YORK] a wholly owned subsidiary of the Alleghany Corporation, announced the appointment of long-time Board member Jack Sennott to Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. Stephen J. Sills has retired with the appointment of Sennott. Sennott previously served as Alleghany Corporation’s Senior Vice President and chief financial officer since 2013. M Sennott was Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Strategy Officer of Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG from January 2010 to April 2012. Prior to that, from October 2008 to January 2010, Sennott served as the Chief Operating Officer of Allied World Insurance Company. Sennott was the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Darwin Professional Underwriters, Inc. from March 2003 to October 2008.
J.Hilburn [DALLAS, TX] announced that Dave DeFeo has been named chief executive officer. DeFeo replaces Andy Janowski who served in the position since April 2018 and will resume his role as Chairman of the J.Hilburn board of directors. Most recently DeFeo was the CEO of Worth where he led the brand for more than 10 years. Prior to Worth, DeFeo was President and COO of The Longaberger Company, President of Doncaster and held leadership roles at Milliken & Company.
Paratek Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [BOSTON, MA] (Nasdaq: PRTK) announced the promotion of Evan Loh to Chief Executive Officer, effective June 25, 2019. Loh will continue to serve on the Paratek Board of Directors. Michael Bigham, who has served as Paratek’s Chairman and CEO since 2014, will remain active with the Company in the newly created role of Executive Chairman. Loh has nearly 20 years of experience as a senior executive in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently serving as Paratek’s Chief Operating Officer since January 2017 and as President and Chief Medical Officer and a member of the Board of Directors since June 2014. Prior to Paratek’s merger with Transcept Pharmaceuticals, Loh was Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Paratek from June 2012 to June 2014. Prior to joining Paratek, Loh held multiple senior leadership roles at Pfizer and Wyeth, where he led the successful global registration programs for Torisel® and Tygacil®. Loh currently serves on the Board of Directors of Eiger Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. and as Chairman of the Antimicrobials Working Group.
Samuel, Son & Co., Limited [BURLINGTON, ON] announced the appointment of Colin Osborne to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2019. Osborne will replace Bill Chisholm, Samuel’s CEO since 2013, who is retiring. Since October 2018, Osborne has served as President and Chief Operating Officer, prior to which he was President of Samuel’s Service Centers. Osborne joined the Company in 2015 as President, Samuel Manufacturing Group, where he led the Company’s diversified manufacturing businesses. Before joining Samuel, Osborne was President and CEO of Vicwest Inc., and previously held senior leadership positions at Stelco. Osborne is currently a Director of Hudbay Minerals and previously sat on the Board of Directors of Strongco and TMS International.
A2A Pharmaceuticals Inc. [NEW YORK] announced the appointment of Sotirios G. Stergiopoulos as President and Chief Executive Officer. Stergiopoulos has held the position as Founder and Chairman of the Board since 2016. Stergiopoulos joins A2A from Ipsen where he served as the Chief Medical Officer, SVP and Head of Global Medical Affairs since January 2017. Edward Painter, who has served as CEO of A2A since 2016, will take the role of Chief Investment Officer and Chairman of the Board.
Deans Knight Capital Management Ltd. [VANCOUVER, BC] announced the appointment of Steve Conway as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Founder Wayne Deans will become Vice-Chairman and continue as Equity Portfolio Manager and trusted advisor. Conway’s appointment to CEO became effective on June 30, 2019. Conway joins Deans Knight with more than 25 years of experience in senior finance roles. Since the late 1990s, Conway has served as Managing Director at Bankers Trust Company/Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, UBS and Citigroup.
Puls [SAN FRANCISCO] announced the appointment of Mitch Galbraith as the new Chief Executive Officer and a member of its Board of Directors. Galbraith succeeds Puls Co-Founder Itai Hirsch as CEO with Hirsch taking on the role of President & COO. Galbraith was most recently the EVP and GM of the Gaming and Entertainment division of j2 Global. Prior to J2, Galbraith was the COO and then CEO of comedy startup Funny Or Die. Earlier roles included COO at marketplace IfOnly, co-founder and CEO of streaming movie service FlickMe, CEO of local business review site Insider Pages, and head of business operations for Yahoo Small Business.
TAPP, Inc. [HOUSTON, TX] announced that Gilberto Perez was named corporate Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at TAPP, Inc. Perez joins TAPP, Inc. from Cemex, where he held numerous international executive positions since he started in 1988, including Strategic Planning Executive VP in Venezuela; Planning and Marketing Executive VP in Mexico; and culminating as President of Cemex USA.
El Paso Electric Company [EL PASO, TX] (NYSE: EE) announced that the Company has appointed Adrian Rodriguez, EPE’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, as interim Chief Executive Officer, effective beginning August 1, 2019. Mary Kipp, EPE’s current CEO and President, has accepted a position at another Energy Company. Rodriguez joined EPE in 2013 and was appointed as an Officer of the Company and Senior Vice President, General Counsel in 2017. Before joining El Paso Electric, Rodriguez was an attorney in the Dallas office of international law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP. Rodriguez also served as a law clerk to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas in San Antonio.
API Heat Transfer Inc. [BUFFALO, NY] announced that it has named Stephen Rennie as president and chief executive officer. Rennie previously held senior leadership positions at Actuant Corporation, including executive vice president of the Industrial segment. Rennie also held various president and vice president positions at Ingersoll-Rand PLC.
ProAssurance Corporation [BIRMINGHAM, AL] (NYSE: PRA) announced that Edward L. (Ned) Rand, Jr., has succeeded W. Stancil Starnes as Chief Executive Officer. Rand will retain his responsibilities as President of the Company. During his tenure at ProAssurance, Rand has served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President, and Senior Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining ProAssurance in November of 2004, Rand was Chief Accounting Officer and Head of Corporate Finance for PartnerRe Ltd. from 2000 – 2004. Rand also served as the Chief Financial Officer of Atlantic American Corporation from 1996 – 2000 and Controller of United Capitol Insurance Company from 1992 – 1996. Prior to that time, Rand was employed by Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) for four years.
Highwoods Properties, Inc. [RALEIGH, NC] (NYSE: HIW) announced Ed Fritsch will retire as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors effective September 1, 2019. Ted Klinck who currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of CEO and director upon Fritsch’s retirement. Klinck has served as President since November 2018 and Chief Operating Officer of Highwoods since September 2015. Prior to that, Klinck served as the Company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. Before joining Highwoods in March 2012, Klinck served as principal and chief investment officer with Goddard Investment Group. Previously, Klinck had been a managing director at Morgan Stanley Real Estate.
Arcadia Settlements Group [DENVER, CO] announced that longtime Arcadia leader Joe Costello is stepping down from the position of CEO but remaining active as CEO Emeritus. Costello will be succeeded by Brad Cantwell, a 28-year Arcadia veteran who currently serves as President of the company.
Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. [HERNDON, VA] (Nasdaq: BECN) announced the appointment of Julian G. Francis as President and CEO and to its Board of Directors. Francis is expected to assume his duties as President and CEO and join Beacon’s Board of Directors on or about September 1, 2019. Francis has been the President of the Insulation Business at Owens Corning since October 2014. From 2012-2014, Francis served as Vice President and General Manager for Owens Corning’s Residential Insulation Business. Francis also has served as Vice President and Managing Director for Owens Corning’s Glass Reinforcements, Americas, in the Composite Solutions Business. Prior to joining Owens Corning, Francis was Vice President and Publishing Director at Reed Business Information. Prior to joining Reed, Francis spent 10 years at USG Corporation rising through the marketing, strategy, and general management ranks.
