Medeor Therapeutics, Inc. [SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA] announced the appointment of Karen Smith as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Immediately prior to joining Medeor, Smith was the CEO of an international organization focused on oncology therapeutics in late stage clinical trials. Prior to that, Smith was the Chief Medical Officer for Jazz Pharmaceuticals. Smith has previously served on the boards of Forward Pharma and Sucampo and is currently serving as a Director for Acceleron Pharma, Antares Pharma, and Sangamo Therapeutics.
SchoolMint [SAN FRANCISCO, CA] announced that it has hired Bryan MacDonald as its new Chief Executive Officer. MacDonald joins SchoolMint from his most recent role as Chief Product and Technology Officer, at Illuminate Education. SchoolMint co-founder and current CEO Jinal Jhaveri will step down and will assume the role of Non-Executive Chairman of SchoolMint’s Board of Directors.
Atara Biotherapeutics, Inc. [SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA] (Nasdaq: ATRA) announced the appointment of Pascal Touchon as President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors. Isaac Ciechanover stepped down from his role as President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors. Ciechanover will serve as a special advisor to a subcommittee of the Board who will lead the Company until Touchon begins his tenure as President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors on June 24, 2019. Touchon has over 30 years of global biopharmaceutical leadership experience, most recently at Novartis Oncology serving as Global Head, Cell & Gene and member of the Oncology Executive Committee. Previously at Novartis, Pascal Touchon served as Global Head, Strategy, Business Development, Oncology. Prior to joining Novartis Oncology, Touchon held leadership roles in research, marketing, general management and business development at various companies including Servier, Sanofi, Glaxo and Glaxo-Wellcome.
KPA [LAFAYETTE, CO] announced the appointment of Chris Fanning as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Fanning succeeds Vane Clayton, who has served as CEO since 2006. Clayton will continue to serve on the KPA board of directors. Fanning most recently was President and CEO of Survey Sampling International. He has also held multiple leadership roles with Lattice Semiconductor and The Boston Consulting Group.
CohnReznick LLP [NEW YORK] announced that it has elected David A. Kessler, a veteran CohnReznick executive, to serve as the firm’s next Chief Executive Officer. Kessler will assume the CEO role on February 1, 2020 when current CEO Frank Longobardi completes his term. Kessler previously served as the Co-Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Bethesda, MD office where he is based. Kessler has been with CohnReznick for more than 33 years. Kessler is a member of CohnReznick’s Executive Board and is currently the Managing Partner for the Real Estate practice. He led CohnReznick’s commercial real estate practice for many years, building a strong national practice and reputation for the firm among developers, investors, private equity fund managers, REITs, and other industry stakeholders.
American International Group, Inc. [NEW YORK] (NYSE: AIG) announced the appointment of Sharon French as President and Chief Executive Officer, Life & Retirement Funds. French succeeds Peter Harbeck, who announced his intention to retire late last year. French has held a variety of senior roles during her 30 years in financial services, most recently as Executive Vice President, Head of Beta Solutions for OppenheimerFunds. French also oversaw the firm’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts and served on the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, governing the overall strategic direction of OppenheimerFunds. Previously, French served as Senior Strategic Advisor to the CEO and President of Investment Management at BNY Mellon and Head of Private Client & Institutions at BlackRock. French spent nearly a decade at AllianceBernstein and held prior roles at mPower, Smith Barney and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Viratech Corporation [RENO, NV] is pleased to announce the Company has approved the selection of former White House advisor, Henry Manayan as Chief Executive Officer for the company. Manayan was appointed to a White House Advisory Group on Asian-Pacific Affairs by U.S. President Bill Clinton. Manayan served three terms as the Mayor of the City of Milpitas, in Silicon Valley, California. Manayan is the Founder and President of The Transpacific Companies. Manayan was a co-founder of ViaGold Capital, a private equity and venture fund company, which went public on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Early Warning Services, LLC [SCOTTSDALE, AZ] announced the appointment of Albert “Al” Ko as Chief Executive Officer, effective May 13, 2019. Ko, most recently, served as Chief Transformation Officer at Intuit. Over his 13+ year career at Intuit, Ko held numerous executive positions, including General Manager of Mint, the company’s consumer-facing personal finance app, and Head of Product for Intuit’s Small Business Group. Prior to joining Intuit, Ko was a management consultant at both the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey.
Prisma Health [GREENVILLE, SC] announced the selection of Mark S. O’Halla as the health company’s new president and chief executive officer. O’Halla will join Prisma Health in mid-August. O’Halla has been serving as executive vice president/chief operating officer of Michigan-based McLaren Health Care since 2014. O’Halla has more than 30 years of experience in health care senior executive roles, including 13 years with the McLaren organization.
The Corix Group of Companies [VANCOUVER, BC] announced Lisa Sparrow has been appointed its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Sparrow succeeds current President and CEO Gordon Barefoot who has served for the past 18 months. Sparrow joined Corix in December 2012 when Corix acquired Utilities, Inc. and has continued as the President and CEO, Utilities Inc. In 2016, Sparrow assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer, US Regulated Utilities for the Corix Group of Companies. President and CEO over the past 18 months.
HeartFlow, Inc. [REDWOOD CITY, CA] announced that it has named Dana G. Mead, Jr. as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mead also has been appointed to HeartFlow’s Board of Directors. Former President and CEO John H. Stevens will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and assume the role of Chairman. Most recently, Mead served as President and CEO of Beaver-Visitec International (BVI). Prior to BVI, Mead was a Strategic Advisor and Partner in the Life Science Practice of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). Before KPCB, Mead served as President of Guidant Vascular Intervention. Earlier in his career, Mead held sales and marketing roles in the medical device groups of Allergan and Johnson & Johnson. Mead currently serves on the Board of Directors of Inspire Medical, Intersect ENT, BVI and Pulmonx, and has served on the boards of the California Healthcare Institute and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University, and as chair of the Lafayette College West Coast Advisory Council.
Solera Holdings, Inc. [WESTLAKE, TX] announced that Jeff Tarr has joined the company as a director and its new CEO. Tarr, replaces Tony Aquila as Solera’s CEO. Most recently, Tarr served as CEO and President of DigitalGlobe, Inc. Prior to DigitalGlobe, Tarr was President and COO of IHS Inc. (now IHS Markit Ltd.).Tarr serves on numerous corporate and philanthropic boards, including as Member of the Board of Directors of EchoStar Corporation, Chairman of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Management Board, Co-Chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Council on the Future of Space Technologies, Member of the Board of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Netifi [SAN FRANCISCO, CA] announced Arsalan Farooq has been named CEO. Farooq was CEO and co-founder of Convirture, which was acquired by Persistent Systems/Accelerite, in 2015. Previously, Farooq founded Oracle’s Application Service Level Management division.
PJM Interconnection [VALLEY FORGE, PA] announced that Andrew L. Ott, president and chief executive officer, is retiring from the organization on June 30, 2019. To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Ott has agreed to serve as an adviser to the PJM Board of Managers through December 31, 2019. The PJM Board of Managers has formed a committee to oversee the search for a new CEO. In the interim, the Board has announced that Susan J. Riley, a Board member since 2005, will serve as interim CEO, beginning July 1, 2019.
Buchanan & Edwards Inc. [WASHINGTON, DC] announced that it has appointed Eric Olson as CEO. Olson previously served as senior vice president for ECS Federal, as well as executive vice president of InfoReliance. Prior to his leadership with InfoReliance, Olson served in executive and senior leadership roles for Mediachase, Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse.
LifeSecure Insurance Company [BRIGHTON, MI] announced the appointment of Patrick J. Prichard as president and CEO. The move follows the resumption of former LifeSecure president and CEO Kevin Stutler‘s previous position of vice president of Enterprise Ancillary Business at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the parent company of LifeSecure. Prichard joined LifeSecure as Chief Operating Officer in 2016, overseeing all administrative operations, information technology, and human resources. Prior to joining LifeSecure, Prichard held leadership roles within Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, as well as various sales positions at Lincoln National and UnitedHealthcare.
Qwinix Technologies [DENVER, CO] announced that it has appointed Loren Burnett as CEO, effective May 6, 2019. Burnett has founded 5 companies, had 5 exits generating $375 mil in shareholder gains, raised $185 mil in financing, led 1 IPO and 17 M&A transactions. He is an expert on SaaS software, IT Services and clean tech. Loren has deep experience at the CEO, COO and CFO levels in companies ranging from raw startups to a 550 person, $72 mil company that he co-founded, and where he served as both COO and CFO.
Signal [CHICAGO, IL] announced that Lisa Weinstein has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer. Weinstein will succeed Mike Sands, who will become Executive Chairman and remain an officer of the company. Weinstein was previously the CEO of Curiosity.com. Prior to Curiosity.com, Weinstein served as CEO of Engine Media, the global media services operating unit of the Engine Group. Weinstein also served as President of Global Digital, Data & Analytics, at Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG), and for more than a decade she held US and global executive leadership roles within GroupM and Mindshare. Weinstein has served on Google’s Global Media Council, Twitter’s Client Council, Forbes Executive Women’s Board, AAF Board of Directors and the IAB Agency Advisory Board, among others.
mPowerTechnology [ALBUQUERQUE, NM] announced the appointment of Kevin Hell as president and CEO. Hell’s 20 years of P&L leadership roles include being the CEO of DivX, one of the most broadly deployed digital media technologies in the world. Having initiated his career as a spacecraft systems engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company, Hell has since held executive and board roles with multiple companies including Gateway, Palm, On-Ramp Wireless, The Boston Consulting Group and Sonic Solutions.
TiVo Corporation [SAN JOSE, CA] (NASDAQ: TIVO) announced that it has selected Dave Shull to the position of president and CEO and a member of the Board of Directors. Interim president and CEO Raghu Rau will then assume the role of Vice Chairperson on the Company’s Board of Directors. Most recently, Shull served as the CEO of The Weather Channel cable network. While at The Weather Channel from 2015 to 2018, Shull overhauled the organization to streamline operating costs. Prior to The Weather Channel, Shull held various executive roles at DISH Network/EchoStar for 10 years, including Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Senior Vice President, Programming, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, and Vice President, Operations.
AccessElite Health [NEWPORT BEACH, CA] appointed Jennifer Anderson as CEO. Most recently, as a partner in Addison Consulting, Anderson held executive roles at multiple health technology startups, focusing on driving business imperatives, sales, and marketing. In the years prior, she served as SVP of Marketing and Technology at ALPHAEON Corporation. She has also worked with Allergan in consumer and professional marketing in the Bariatric and Urology Divisions as well as, New York based ad agencies Ogilvy and Mather and Rapp Collins.
