Petco [SAN DIEGO] announced that Chairman and CEO, Jim Myers, a 26-year company veteran and CEO since 2004, will be retiring. As part of Petco’s long-term succession plan, company President and Chief Merchant, Brad Weston, who joined Petco in 2011, will succeed Myers as CEO as of February 1, 2017. Myers joined Petco in 1990 and has been a key leader in building and growing the company.
Staples, Inc. [FRAMINGHAM, Mass.] (NASDAQ: SPLS) announced the appointment of Shira Goodman as its President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of its Board of Directors. During her career at Staples, Ms. Goodman has served in key leadership positions, including President, North American Operations; President, North American Commercial; Executive Vice President of Global Growth; Executive Vice President of Human Resources, and Executive Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Goodman was appointed interim Chief Executive Officer in May 2016.
Ford Motor Company [DEARBORN, Mich.] announced the appointment of Rajendra “Raj” Rao as chief executive officer of Ford Smart Mobility LLC, Ford’s subsidiary working to design, build, grow and invest in emerging mobility services. Rao will report to Jim Hackett, Ford Smart Mobility LLC chairman, and be based in Palo Alto, California. Rao has created, built and transformed businesses for iGATE Capital, Brunswick Corporation and, most recently, 3M. As the vice president of digital business model innovation at 3M, Rao led the company’s Silicon Valley digital hub and Internet-of-Things projects, based in Redwood City, California. Prior to 3M, Rao led the international operations of Life Fitness as part of the Brunswick Corporation leadership team. A native of Bangalore, India, Rao began his career as a financial analyst at Procter & Gamble. He has significant global experience, having worked in and led business operations in Asia, Europe, Middle East and North America.
Powell Industries, Inc. [HOUSTON] (NASDAQ: POWL) announced that its Board of Directors has named Brett A. Cope President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Cope was also named to the Board of Directors. Mr. Cope joined Powell in December 2010 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since December 2015.
Baked by Melissa [NEW YORK] announced that Seth Horowitz has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Horowitz will succeed Baked by Melissa’s Founder, Brian Bushell, who will be stepping down as the current CEO after eight years at the helm of the business. Mr. Bushell will remain an acting member of the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Horowitz has 18 years of experience in executive roles, with businesses such as Everlast Worldwide, Modell’s Sporting Goods and Iconix.
Pirch [SAN DIEGO] announced that Andrea Dorigo has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Dorigo was recruited to succeed co-founder Jeffery R. Sears, who will serve as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining Pirch, Mr. Dorigo gained extensive experience in the premium retail market during his time at Luxottica, where he served in senior leadership positions in both Europe and North America, including President of Wholesale North America and Global President of Oakley. Prior to Oakley, Mr. Dorigo served as President of North America and Global CMO at Brooks Brothers. Prior to joining Luxottica in 2005, Mr. Dorigo worked with Safilo and Giorgio Armani in Italy and was a consultant for McKinsey & Company.
Kim Technologies [BRIDGEWATER, N.J.] announced that Robert (Bob) Farina has joined the company as its Chief Executive Officer and has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Farina is a highly experienced CEO of Private Equity and Venture Capital backed technology companies. Most recently he was the CEO of the J.K. Group. Prior to J.K. Group he was CEO of CyberShift.
Republican Main Street Partnership [WASHINGTON] announced that Sarah Chamberlain as their new Chief Executive Officer, in addition to being its President. Chamberlain presently serves as the President of the Republican Main Street Partnership. Prior to serving as President, Chamberlain was COO, CFO, and Executive Director of Main Street. Chamberlain began her career in the personal office of Amo Houghton in Corning, NY. In 1998 she moved to Washington DC to become the first Executive Director of the John Quincy Adams Society and to help launch the Republican Main Street Partnership.
ResCare, Inc. [LOUISVILLE, Ky.] announced that it has named Jon B. Rousseau president and chief executive officer. Mr. Rousseau will succeed ResCare’s retiring CEO Ralph Gronefeld, Jr., who has dedicated 21 years of service to the company and will serve as interim president of the Residential Services segment until June 30, 2017. Most recently, Mr. Rousseau served as executive vice president of Kindred Healthcare and president of Kindred Rehabilitation Services. Prior to that, he was president of the Care Management Division and Kindred At Home, Kindred’s home health, hospice, home care and home-based primary care businesses. Before his employment with Kindred, Mr. Rousseau held a number of senior leadership positions at other market-leading health care companies, including vice president of global marketing, strategy and commercial development for Mylan and global senior director of the continuous glucose monitoring franchise with Medtronic. For the first part of his career, Mr. Rousseau worked at Friedman Fleischer & Lowe, LLC, a leading private equity firm, and at Morgan Stanley in investment banking, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.
Eagle Materials Inc. [DALLAS] (NYSE: EXP) announced that it has appointed George Damiris to its Board of Directors. Mr. Damiris is Chief Executive Officer and President of HollyFrontier Corporation. George also serves as a director at HollyFrontier and Holly Logistics Services, LLC.
Acceleron Pharma Inc. [CAMBRIDGE, Mass.] (NASDAQ: XLRN) announced the Company has appointed Habib Dable as President and Chief Executive Officer to succeed current President and CEO John Knopf. Mr. Dable will assume the CEO role effective December 1, 2016. Mr. Dable joins Acceleron from Bayer AG, where he most recently served as President of Pharmaceuticals for Bayer in the U.S.
Helix Twelve Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [PALO ALTO, Calif.] announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Fred R. Seddiqui as Chief Executive Officer. Seddiqui brings more than 30 years of industry experience to Helix Twelve, where he has held various global executive positions in medical device and biotechnology companies. Over the past three years, he has served as an executive advisor to Helix Twelve and a member of their Board of Directors.
AIIOver Media, LLC (AOM) [MINNEAPOLIS], a portfolio company of Audax Private Equity, announced the appointment of Jeff Griffing as Chief Executive Officer. Griffing succeeds AOM founder and previous CEO Tony Jacobson, who will move into a new role as Chief Innovation Officer. Previous to joining AllOver Media, Griffing served as executive vice president at Taylor Corporation in Mankato, Minn. Prior to joining Taylor Corporation, he had several leaderships roles, including Chief Revenue Officer at Star Tribune Media Company in Minneapolis, Publisher/ SVP of Sales for Sports Illustrated in New York, and President/Group Publisher of Transworld Media in Oceanside, CA.
Westell Technologies, Inc. [AURORA, Ill.] (NASDAQ: WSTL) announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Kirk R. Brannock as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Brannock succeeds J. Thomas Gruenwald, whose last day with the Company was September 26, 2016. Mr. Brannock, served as a member of Westell’s Board of Directors from February 2011 to September 2014. He retired in 2010 from his position as Senior Vice President — Ethernet Deployment at AT&T, after a career spanning more than 30 years. Previously Mr. Brannock served in leadership positions at AT&T, Ameritech and SBC, including Senior Vice President — AT&T National Installation & Maintenance and President — SBC/Ameritech Midwest Network Services.
Neon Therapeutics [CAMBRIDGE, Mass.] announced the appointment of Hugh O’Dowd to chief executive officer. Mr. O’Dowd succeeds interim chief executive officer Cary Pfeffer, M.D., a partner at Third Rock Ventures, who is assuming the position of chairman of the company’s board of directors. Mr. O’Dowd joins Neon Therapeutics from Novartis, where he spent more than 20 years in a variety of leadership roles, including chief commercial officer and head of global strategy of Novartis Oncology. Mr. O’Dowd began his career in pharmaceuticals in 1992 at Glaxo in sales, and moved to Novartis in 1996. Following a career of increasing levels of responsibility in sales and marketing, Mr. O’Dowd took a leading role in the commercialization of Gleevec, and assumed country- and region-level commercial leadership roles before overseeing the entirety of Novartis Oncology commercialization and strategy in 2011. Since 2015, Mr. O’Dowd was country president and general manager in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Navidea Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. [DUBLIN, Ohio] (NYSE MKT: NAVB) announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Michael M. Goldberg, M.D. as President and Chief Executive Officer. The Board of Directors has also appointed Eric K. Rowinsky M.D., a Navidea board member since 2010, as Chairman of Navidea’s Board, a position previously held by Dr. Goldberg, who will remain a board member. Michael M. Goldberg, M.D. has been a member of the Navidea Board of Directors since November 2013, serving as interim Chief Executive Officer from May to October 2014. Dr. Goldberg is currently a Managing Partner of Montaur Capital Partners. Prior to this role, he served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Emisphere Technologies, Inc. Prior to Emisphere, he served as Vice President in Investment Banking of The First Boston Corporation, where he was a founding member of the Healthcare Banking Group. Eric K. Rowinsky is currently Executive Chairman and President, of Rgenix, Inc. During his career, Dr. Rowinsky has held executive positions at Stemline Therapeutics, Inc., Primrose Therapeutics, and ImClone Systems Incorporated. Prior to that, Dr. Rowinsky held several positions at the Cancer Therapy & Research Center’s Institute of Drug Development, including Director of the Institute, Director of Clinical Research and SBC Endowed Chair for Early Drug Development, and concurrently served as Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Puppet [PORTLAND, OR] announced the appointment of Sanjay Mirchandani as chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors, replacing founder Luke Kanies, who will remain a member of the board. Mirchandani joined Puppet in May of this year as the company’s first-ever president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining Puppet, Mirchandani served as corporate senior vice president and general manager at VMware for Asia Pacific and Japan. Before this, Mirchandani held several management positions at EMC, including CIO of the company’s IT organization. He also led the company’s Global Centers of Excellence, emerging markets and international development initiatives. Prior to EMC, Mirchandani held several field-based senior management roles at Microsoft over an 11 year period.
Subject Matter [WASHINGTON] announced that John Buckley would become its first Chief Executive Officer. John Buckley was most recently at The Harbour Group, a boutique strategic communications agency, where he served as a managing director since 2008. He has run communications operations in Washington since the 1980s, having been deputy press secretary to Reagan-Bush ’84, and subsequently press secretary to Jack Kemp both in Congress and his 1988 presidential campaign. John’s corporate strategic communications experience began in 1989 when he joined Robinson, Lake, Lerer & Montgomery. From 1991 to 2001 he was senior vice president – communications at Fannie Mae, developing communications programs that have been widely imitated. In 1996, while on leave from Fannie Mae, he was communications director for Senator Bob Dole’s campaign for president. From 2002 to 2007, John was executive vice president for communications at AOL.
GreenSheen Paint [ENGLEWOOD, CO] announced that it has appointed Thad Dupper as Chief Executive Officer. Most recently Mr. Dupper was CEO of Evolving Systems. Prior to that, Mr. Dupper was a member of the leadership teams at Terabeam, Expand Beyond, a Menlo Ventures company, and Teradata, where he was an early member of the management team.
Exelixis, Inc. [SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.] (NASDAQ: EXEL) announced that Julie Anne Smith has been elected to the company’s Board of Directors. Ms. Smith currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Raptor Pharmaceuticals. Ms. Smith previously held key commercial and strategic leadership positions at companies including Enobia Pharma, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, and Genzyme.
Fiesta Restaurant Group, Inc. [DALLAS] (NASDAQ: FRGI), parent company of the Pollo Tropical® and Taco Cabana® fast casual restaurant brands, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Danny Meisenheimer interim CEO and President of the Company. Tim Taft is retiring as CEO and President, and resigning as a director effective September 30, 2016. Mr. Meisenheimer has been Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Pollo Tropical since 2013. Mr. Meisenheimer previously served as Chief Brand Officer of Pollo Tropical in 2012. Prior to joining Pollo Tropical, Mr. Meisenheimer was Chief Operating Officer at Souper Salad, Inc. from 2010 to 2012 and Chief Brand Officer at Souper Salad, Inc. from 2008 to 2010. Before that, Mr. Meisenheimer was Vice President, Brand Management at Pizza Inn, Inc. from 2005 to 2008.
Post Time Studios [LEXINGTON, Ky.] hired Jayne Hancock as CEO. Hancock’s background includes senior executive positions with DIRECTV, 360 Fly Camera (VOXX International), FanVision, FLO TV (Qualcomm), as well as entrepreneurial ventures of founding both a successful digital marketing firm called JHG, Inc. and the sports publishing firm Spectator Sports Communications.
FireMon [OVERLAND PARK, KS and DALLAS, TX] announced the appointment of Satin H. Mirchandani as President & CEO. He has been a founder, CEO and technology executive of MessageOne and MD Buyline, served as VP of Global Services at Dell, and drove the IPO process for pcOrder.com.
Zitter Health Insights [LIVINGSTON, NJ] announced that founder and CEO Mark Zitter will step down from his leadership role. Current President John Monahan will be appointed CEO of the business upon Zitter’s transition to Chairman. Monahan will assume the CEO role on January 1, 2017. Zitter will continue as Chairman of the Zitter Health Insights Board, and will remain a major shareholder in the privately-held business. Mark Zitter founded the business as The Zitter Group in 1989. Monahan joined Zitter Health Insights in 2014, having served most recently as Senior Vice President of Corporate Services for Barnabas Health. Prior to that, he was President & CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health’s Global Pharmaceutical Solutions Division. He also held a number of leadership roles with other health information businesses, including CEO of IC Axon and President and other roles at Innovex Inc, a division of Quintiles.
Brookline Bancorp, Inc. [BOSTON] (NASDAQ: BRKL) announced that Russell Cole, President & CEO of the company’s North Shore subsidiary, First Ipswich Bank, will retire to attend to family matters. James McCarthy has been appointed to replace Cole. Previously, McCarthy was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Danvers Bancorp, Inc., the parent company for Danversbank, and has been a director of First Ipswich Bank since 2013. Before joining Danvers Bancorp, Inc., McCarthy was President & CEO of Revere Federal Savings Bank and an associate at Ernst & Young.
HCA Gulf Coast Division [HOUSTON] announced the appointment of Todd Caliva as chief executive officer of HCA-affiliated Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, effective Oct. 24, 2016. Caliva has more than 24 years of experience, including a decade at the multi-facility level. He has been with HCA in Houston since 1997. Since 2006, Caliva has served as chief executive officer of HCA-affiliated West Houston Medical Center. Prior to this role, Caliva served as chief executive officer of East Houston Regional Medical Center, also part of HCA. Before that, Caliva served as the chief operating officer of HCA-affiliated The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and administrator of Sugar Land Medical Center Surgical and Diagnostic Center.
Larkburger [DENVER] tapped Todd Coerver, formerly of Taco Cabana, to lead chain. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for Taco Cabana. Coerver succeeds Adam Baker as CEO, who resigned from the company in June of this year and remained CEO during the interim period. In addition, Ned Grace, Larkburger Board Member and founder of The Capital Grille, will serve as the company’s new Chairman of the Board. Coerver joined Taco Cabana seven years ago as Chief Brand Officer before being promoted in 2012 to the lead Operations role. Prior, he led Marketing and Innovation at Whataburger.
Heath Consultants Incorporated [HOUSTON] announced that the company’s CEO, Graham Midgley, will retire at the end of November, 2016. Jeffrey M. Tuttle, currently General Manager for Greer Commission of Public Works and current Heath Board of Directors member, will succeed Mr. Midgley as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Greer CPW Jeff was Vice President and Principal, Gas Utility Services for G2 Integrated Solutions. From 2002 to early 2013, Jeff worked for CPS Energy and served as the Vice President for CPS Energy’s Gas Business Unit in San Antonio, Texas. Jeff enjoyed a successful tenure with Consumers Energy and CMS Energy in Michigan from 1983 to 2002. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency (PMPA), American Public Gas Association (APGA), Blue Ridge Scouting Council, and Greer Relief. From 2011 to 2012, he served as the Chairman of American Public Gas Association (APGA) and Texas Gas Association.
Kickboard [NEW ORLEANS] announced that Stefan Kohler has been named CEO. The news comes after a nationwide search prompted by founder and CEO Jennifer Medbery’s announcement in June that she was stepping down from the CEO role. For the past three years Kohler served as executive vice president of Solution Tree, where he was responsible for the company’s marketing, sales, technology and business development divisions. Kohler’s previous senior leadership positions include president of Pearson Services Division, general manager of Scholastic Reading Intervention Division and CEO of Virtual Ink.
