Vascular Dynamics, Inc. (VDI) [MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.] announced the appointment of Ed Roschak as its president and chief executive officer. Roschak joins VDI from NuVasive Specialized Orthopedics, where he served as CEO upon the acquisition of his previous company, Ellipse Technologies, Inc., where he was president and CEO. Prior to his seven years at Ellipse, he held a variety of positions at Broncus Technologies, Inc. He also held engineering roles with increasing responsibility at Hewlett-Packard, Origin Medsystems and Krebs Engineers.
Vidyo, Inc. [HACKENSACK, N.J.] announced that it has named Michael Patsalos-Fox Chairman and CEO. Patsalos-Fox, who has been a Director of Vidyo since 2013 and was appointed as Chairman earlier this year, replaces outgoing CEO, Eran Westman, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Most recently, Patsalos-Fox was CEO of Stroz Friedberg. Prior to Stroz Friedberg, Patsalos-Fox served as chairman of McKinsey Americas at McKinsey & Company. He served as a senior partner on McKinsey’s operating committee for nine years and held a seat on the board for 12 years. Patsalos-Fox currently serves on the boards of several other companies including Cognizant, Quid, and CloudPay.
Follett Corporation [WESTCHESTER, Ill.] announced that President and CEO Ray A. Griffith will retire from the company in March 2018. The company has appointed former Sodexo executive Patrick E. Connolly to succeed Griffith as President and CEO, effective January 2, 2018. After joining Sodexo in 1989 as a Regional Sales Director to school districts in the Midwest, Connolly took on progressively responsible leadership positions in Sodexo’s K-12, senior services and health care businesses. In 2007, he was named Chief Operating Officer, North America & President of Health Care North America. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Universities Worldwide.
Piper Jaffray Companies [MINNEAPOLIS] (NYSE: PJC) has announced that it has unanimously elected Chad Abraham as chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2018. Current chairman and chief executive officer Andrew Duff will remain chairman of the Piper Jaffray Companies board and retire as CEO. Abraham is currently the firm’s global co-head of investment banking & capital markets. Abraham joined Piper Jaffray in 1991 as an investment banking analyst. He spent the next 13 years on the West Coast as a banker in the company’s technology investment banking group. He was promoted to managing director and head of technology investment banking in 1999. In 2005, he was promoted to head of capital markets and in 2010 he became the global co-head of investment banking and capital markets. Abraham serves on the board of trustees of the Nature Conservancy’s Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota chapter and the board of trustees of The Blake School.
DISH Network Corp. [ENGLEWOOD, Colo.] announced that Chairman Charlie Ergen has resigned as Chief Executive Officer. The company promoted Erik Carlson to President and CEO from his prior role as President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, Erik managed DISH’s In-Home Services, Customer Service Centers, Customer Billing, and Information Technology organizations, as well as Manufacturing. Erik also served as SVP of Retail Services and Sales.
Imagine Communications [DALLAS] announced that Tom Cotney has been named CEO of the company. Current CEO Charlie Vogt is joining The Gores Group as a Senior Advisor. Cotney served as General Manager of the Communications Sector at IBM Global Services and has been a CEO and board member for a number of privately held companies. Cotney will also join the board of directors of Imagine.
Quantitative Brokers [NEW YORK] has appointed Ralf Roth as Chief Executive Officer. Roth recently served as IHS Markit’s Equities Division CTO. Previously, he served as Global Head of Elektron at Thomson Reuters and worked at Deutsche Bank as Global Head of Fixed Income Electronic Trading and Equity Electronic Trading businesses.
RG Barry Corporation [PICKERINGTON, Ohio] announced the appointment of Boston footwear executive Bob Mullaney as president and chief executive officer. Most recently, Mullaney was president and chief operating officer of Shoes.com. Prior to his role at Shoes.com, Mullaney served as president of Americas for The Rockport Company. Prior to that, Mullaney held significant leadership roles at Vida Group and The Stride Rite Corporation.
Duracell Company, Inc., and its parent company Berkshire Hathaway Company [BETHEL, Conn.] announced that Thom Lachman has been promoted to CEO of the Duracell Company, Inc., effective January 1, 2018. Angelo V. Pantaleo, who served as CEO of the Duracell Company, Inc. has accepted the new position of President & COO of Marmon Holdings, Inc. He will also continue to be Chairman of the Duracell Company Board of Directors. Lachman joined Berkshire Hathaway as a member of Berkshire Hathaway’s Duracell Transition Team on November 1, 2015, and has served as Duracell’s President of North America since March 1, 2016. Before coming to Berkshire Hathaway, he gained over 30 years of experience with Procter & Gamble (P&G), most recently serving as President of P&G Canada. He also served as the Global Marketing Director for PUR Water Filtration.
The ALS Association [WASHINGTON] announced that Calaneet Balas has begun her role as President and CEO. Balas previously served as the Association’s Executive Vice President for Strategy. Balas was hired in June 2016. She had previously served as CEO of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. Her experience also includes roles at the Arthritis Foundation, where she was Chief Strategy Officer of the Mid-Atlantic Region and President and CEO of the foundation’s Metro DC Chapter.
Munich Re [ATLANTA] announced that Michael DeKoning, President and CEO will leave Munich effective January 1, 2018. Marc-André Giguère will be appointed President and CEO of Munich Re, US (Life and Health). He spent more than twenty years working in the US and Canada in senior leadership roles at Ernst & Young and Tillinghast prior to joining Munich Re. Giguère joined Munich Re, Canada (Life) in November 2015 as Senior Vice President, North America Inforce Management. In July 2017, he assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Reinsurance for Munich Re, US (Life) and President and CEO of Munich Re Health for the US.
Stanley Furniture Company, Inc. [HIGH POINT, N.C.] (NASDAQ: STLY) announced that Glenn Prillaman, President and Chief Executive Officer, has resigned. Matthew W. Smith has been elected Interim Chief Executive Officer. Smith is a managing director with The Finley Group, Inc.
The National Osteoporosis Foundation [ARLINGTON] has announced the selection of Elizabeth A. Thompson as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2, 2018. Thompson will be replacing Chief Executive Officer, Amy Porter. She currently consults with a number of nonprofit organizations on organizational development, philanthropy and coaching senior staff.
Quarterhill Inc. [OTTAWA] (NASDAQ: QTRH) (TSX: QTRH) announced the appointment of Douglas Parker as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Parker is expected to join Quarterhill’s Board of Directors later in 2018. Parker succeeds Shaun McEwan, Interim CEO of Quarterhill. McEwan will return to his prior position of Quarterhill CFO. Prior to Quarterhill, Parker was Senior Vice President, Corporate Development of Open Text Corporation. Prior to this position, Parker held senior roles as General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Open Text and Associate General Counsel of Nortel.
iLOOKABOUT Corp. [TORONTO] (TSXV: ILA) announced that Laurence Rose has resigned as Chief Executive Officer and director of the Company to pursue other interests. Gary Yeoman, Executive Chairman of the Company, will assume the role of CEO and will be Chairman of the Board.
Vital Therapies, Inc. [SAN DIEGO] (NASDAQ: VTL) announced the appointment of Russell J. Cox as Chief Executive Officer and as a member of its Board of Directors, effective January 3, 2018. Cox will succeed Terry Winters, who will step down from the Vital Therapies Board and become a consultant to the Company. Cox has served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Jazz Pharmaceutical plc since May 2014. Prior to that, Cox served as Jazz’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer from March 2012 until May 2014. Previously, Cox served as Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Ipsen Group from January 2009 to January 2010. From 2007 until December 2008, he was Vice President of Marketing at Tercica, Inc. From 2003 to 2007, he served as Vice President, Marketing with Scios Inc. Previously, Cox spent 12 years with Genentech, Inc. where he was a Product Team Leader and Group Product Manager. Cox has served on the board of directors of Aeglea BioTherapeutics, Inc. since 2015.
Goldfinch Bio [CAMBRIDGE, Mass.] announced the appointment of Anthony Johnson to president and chief executive officer. Johnson succeeds interim chief executive officer Abbie Celniker, who will remain on Goldfinch Bio’s board of directors. Anthony joins Goldfinch from AstraZeneca, where he was head of early clinical development for the Innovative Medicines and Early Development Biotech Unit. Prior to AstraZeneca, he was a venture partner at OrbiMed Advisors and held R&D leadership roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb and GlaxoSmithKline. He served as a Board Director for Cardioxyl and has had 18 years of broad clinical practice.
FiberLight, LLC [ATLANTA] announced the promotion of Don MacNeil to Chief Executive Officer. With this appointment, Jim Lynch, FiberLight’s CEO for past three years, will assume the Executive Chairman role. Don joined FiberLight as Chief Operating Officer in September of this year. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer for EdgeConneX. Additionally, Don has held a variety of leadership roles with operations, engineering, sales and marketing teams, and culminated his 14-year tenure with XO Communications as COO.
TrackR [GOLETA, Calif.] announced that Chief Operating Officer, Nate Kelly, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Previous CEO and co-founder, Chris Herbert, will continue as a strategic board member. His background of rapid scaling category-leaders includes SonyEricsson, Palm and Sonos.
Focal Point Data Risk, LLC [TAMPA, Fla.] announced that it has appointed Brian Marlier as the Chief Executive Officer. Marlier, a Founding Board Member of Focal Point, replaces Yong-Gon Chon, who led the company since February 2015. Brian Marlier retired from Cisco in August 2017, most recently serving as the Senior Vice President of Global Architectures and Global Enterprise Sales. Prior to joining Cisco, Marlier served as the Vice President of Sales for Nortel Public Data Networks and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for EMASS. He also held senior positions at Hitachi Data Systems and EMC. He joined the Board of Focal Point as a Founding Member in 2014.
The Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation [WASHINGTON] (NYSE: AGM and AGM.A) has appointed Lowell L. Junkins to the position of acting president and chief executive officer. He became Chairman on September 30, 2010 and will continue serving as board chairman. This appointment follows the termination of the role of former President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy L. Buzby.
Ameris Bancorp [MOULTRIE, Ga.] (NASDAQ: ABCB) announced that effective January 1, 2018, Edwin W. Hortman Jr. will be succeeded as Chief Executive Officer of Ameris Bank by Dennis J. Zember Jr. Hortman, who has been an officer of the Company since 2002 and a director since 2003. Hortman will remain President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ameris Bancorp and will also assume the role of Executive Chairman of both Ameris Bancorp and Ameris Bank. Zember was reviously Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Ameris Bancorp and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ameris Bank. From February 2005 until June 2016, Zember also served as Chief Financial Officer of Ameris Bank. Zember will continue to serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company.
