Cedar Electronics [CHICAGO] announced the appointment of Christopher Cowger as President and CEO. Cowger was most recently the Chief Operating & Financial Officer for ClipCast® Technologies. Prior to joining the team at Cedar, Cowger has held several senior executive management positions, including President of Celgard and CEO of Enerdel. Chris also spent ten years at Dell, Inc., last serving as Vice President and General Manager of its Global Consumer Software and Peripherals division. Chris started his career in various engineering capacities at General Motors Corporation.
Kinetica [SAN FRANCISCO] announced the appointment of Paul Appleby as chief executive officer. Kinetica founder and previous CEO Amit Vij will assume the role of president and chief strategy officer. Appleby most recently served at BMC Software as president, worldwide sales and marketing. Prior to BMC Software, he also held executive leadership roles at Salesforce, C3 IoT, and Siebel Systems.
Ellucian [RESTON, Va.] announced that Laura K. Ipsen has joined the company as president and chief executive officer. Ipsen joins Ellucian from Oracle Corporation, where she most recently served as general manager and senior vice president for Oracle Marketing Cloud. Previously, Ipsen served as corporate vice president of Microsoft’s worldwide public-sector organization. Ipsen’s experience includes more than a decade at Cisco Systems. She has also held leadership roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Acer America and Hitachi Data Systems. Currently serving on the board of Monsanto, Ipsen is the past chair of the board of the Information Technology Industry Council.
Nicholas Financial, Inc. [CLEARWATER, Fla.] (NASDAQ: NICK) appointed Douglas Marohn as President and Chief Executive Officer. Marohn most recently served as President and CEO of ML Credit Group, LLC since January 2014. Previously, Marohn was Senior Vice President at TMX Finance. Prior to TMX, he spent 14 years with Nicholas Financial.
Hospital Council of Northern and Central California [SACRAMENTO, Calif.] announced that Arthur A. Sponseller, President and CEO of the Hospital Council since 2005, will retire.
Neato Robotics [NEWARK, Calif.] announced the appointment of new CEO Matt Petersen, effective January 1st, 2018. Petersen has sat on the Neato board since 2014. Current CEO, Giacomo Marini, will step down after five years. Currently, Petersen is the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of JAFRA Cosmetics International. He began his career with the Walt Disney Company and held roles at Mattel and PepsiCo. Prior to joining JAFRA, Petersen held numerous high-level positions at Mattel and was most recently Vice President of U.S. Marketing.
Auth0 [BELLEVUE, Wash.] announced that company co-founder Eugenio Pace will serve as its new chief executive officer. Jon Gelsey, Auth0’s former CEO, will step down from his role. Pace most recently served as the company’s chief customer officer.
ArisGlobal [MIAMI] announced the appointment of Sankesh Abbhi as ArisGlobal’s President and Chief Executive Officer. In his role, he replaces Deepak Abbhi who has been the company’s founder, President and CEO for almost 30 years. Deepak will now serve as the Chairman of the Board of ArisGlobal. Sankesh Abbhi has served as ArisGlobal’s Managing Director. In 2006, Abbhi founded and managed Synowledge. Synowledge was acquired by Bioclinica in September 2015, where Abbhi then served as Senior Vice President and Head of Global Safety and Regulatory Solutions for more than a year before joining ArisGlobal.
The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) [ALEXANDRIA, Va.] announced that it has selected Otha T. Spriggs III as The ELC’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. Spriggs will succeed Ronald C. Parker, President and CEO. Springgs is currently Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at TIAA. Spriggs’ career began at UPS, and he has since held executive leadership roles at Boston Scientific, The Home Depot, Levi Strauss & Co. and CIGNA Corp.
Western Alliance Bancorporation [PHOENIX] (NYSE: WAL) announced that Robert Sarver will transition from Chairman and CEO to Executive Chairman. Ken Vecchione will be promoted to Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2018.
WideOpenWest, Inc. (WOW!) [ENGLEWOOD, Colo.] announced that Teresa Elder has joined the Company as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of WOW!. Elder succeeds Steven Cochran, who is retiring from WOW! after 15 years with the Company. Cochran will stay on in an advisory role through June 30, 2018. Elder served as a founding President of Clearwire Wholesale, and prior to that as CEO of Vodafone Ireland and President of AT&T Broadband West. Elder was a Senior VP with MediaOne and General Manager of the Rocky Mountain Division at USWEST.
StriveTogether [CINCINNATI] announced the election of Jennifer Blatz as president and chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2018. Blatz has served the organization as Interim CEO since July 2017 and has been affiliated with StriveTogether and its predecessor organizations since 2001. Blatz succeeds StriveTogether Co-founder and former Executive Director Jeff Edmondson. Blatz began as a program officer with KnowledgeWorks focused on college and career access. Blatz progressed through several roles: director of operations for StrivePartnership, senior director of the Cradle to Career Network, and deputy director of StriveTogether in 2014.
Millennium Health [SAN DIEGO] announced the appointment of Robert H. Fish as interim Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Fish will replace Jennifer Strickland, who is leaving the Company for another opportunity but will continue to serve in her role on Millennium Health’s Board of Directors. Fish currently serves as the Chairman of Genesis Healthcare, Inc. Fish began at Genesis in 2013 when he joined Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc. as the CEO. Prior to this, he was Director at LifeCare Health Services. Prior to Genesis, he was the President and CEO at St. Joseph Health System and Valley Care Health System, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Helena Hospital Foundation. He also served as Director, Chairman and CEO at Genesis Health Ventures. Fish’s Board positions include Executive Chairman of REACH Medical Holdings, Coram, Inc., and Director at NeighborCare, Inc. Fish has also served as Managing Partner at Sonoma-Seacrest, LLC.
Room to Read [SAN FRANCISCO] announced that Geetha Murali has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Current CEO and Co-Founder, Erin Ganju is transitioning out of the role. Ganju will serve on the Emeritus Board of Room to Read as well. Murali has been at Room to Read for nearly nine years and is a member of Room to Read’s Management Team, having most recently served as Chief Development & Communications Officer.
CHESS Mobile Health, Inc. [ROCHESTER, N.Y.] announced that Hans Morefield has been named chief executive officer. Morefield comes to CHESS after serving as vice president of population health and care coordination for Experian Health. Previously, he spent almost 15 years with SCI Solutions, as senior vice president, strategic development.
Tomball Regional Medical Center [HOUSTON] has appointed Eric Evans as chief executive officer. Evans was previously the CEO of East Houston Regional Medical Center. Evans replaces interim CEO Brett Kinman, who will remain as chief operating officer. Evans has been with HCA Healthcare for 22 years and held leadership positions with HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division hospitals since 2010.
JUUL Labs, Inc. [SAN FRANCISCO] announced that it has named Kevin Burns, previously president and chief operating officer of Chobani, as its new CEO. Burns replaces Tyler Goldman, who intends to pursue new entrepreneurial opportunities. Prior to his role at Chobani, Burns spent more than 12 years as a partner at TPG Capital
Achaogen, Inc. [SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.] (NASDAQ: AKAO) announced that Blake Wise, currently Achaogen’s President and Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Kenneth Hillan as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Hillan will take on the newly created role of President, R&D and President of Achaogen. Hillan will remain on, and Wise will join, the Board of Directors. Prior to Achaogen, Wise spent 13 years at Genentech.
CAB Financial Corporation [SPARTANBURG, S.C.] (OTCQX: CABF) announced that it has appointed John D. Kimberly as its Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Kimberly currently serves as the President of the Corporation and as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Carolina Alliance Bank. Kimberly succeeds John S. Poole, who recently announced his retirement from CAB Financial Corporation effective as of January 1, 2018. Prior to joining Carolina Alliance in 2014 as its President, Kimberly was President and Chief Executive Officer of Forest Commercial Bank. Kimberly has more than 30 years of banking experience, including service as Market President in western North Carolina for SunTrust Bank.
Encyclopaedia Britannica Group [CHICAGO] announced the appointment of Karthik Krishnan as its chief executive officer. Krishnan previously served for more than a decade at RELX in various leadership roles. He most recently was senior vice president and general manager of Clinical Reference Solutions. His other positions within RELX included senior vice president and general manager of Global Pharma and eCommerce and vice president of Interactive Media. Previously, Krishnan served close to a decade as a digital transformation consultant at Rodale. Krishnan is currently an adjunct professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Ginger Cove [ANNAPOLIS, MD.] announced that it has appointed William M. Holman as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 8, 2018. He succeeds Edgar E. Mallick, Jr., who is retiring at the end of 2017. Holman has served as President and CEO of Sagepoint Senior Living Services, Inc. since 2011. Prior to that, he was Sage Point’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Holman is an adjunct Professor at the Erickson School of Aging Services
MedOptions [OLD LYME, Conn.] announced the appointment of Thomas McInerney as its Chief Executive Officer. McInerney joined MedOptions in May 2017 as President and Chief Operating Officer. McInerney succeeds Ed Mercadante, who will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the MedOptions Board of Directors. Prior to joining MedOptions, McInerney served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board Director and Senior Advisor at Employer Direct Healthcare, LLC (EDHC). Prior to joining EDHC, McInerney held several operational roles in the private equity industry. Previously, McInerney held several senior operating roles within the financial services sector.
Central Logic [SANDY, Utah] has appointed Angie Franks as chief executive officer. Angie has served as an independent member of the Central Logic board since 2014 and was appointed board chair earlier this year. Franks previously served in executive leadership roles at Healthland, Lawson Software, GeoAccess, and Advisory Board.
Ribbon Communications [WESTFORD, Mass.] (NASDAQ: RBBN) announced that Franklin W. Hobbs, a director of the Company, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. The appointment follows the resignation of Ray Dolan, as President and Chief Executive Officer and as a director of the Company. Since 2004, Hobbs has been an advisor to One Equity Partners LLC. Hobbs currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ally Financial. He further served as a Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BAWAG P.S.K. He is a director on the boards of Molson Coors Brewing Company and Lord Abbett & Company. He is a former Chief Executive Officer at Houlihan, Lokey, Howard, and Zukin and was previously Chairman of UBS AG’s Warburg Dillon Read Inc. unit. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Dillon, Read & Co. Inc.
GRAIL, Inc. [MENLO PARK, Calif.] announced the appointment of Jennifer Cook as chief executive officer, effective January 2, 2018. Bill Rastetter, who has been acting as interim chief executive officer since August 2017, will continue in his role as chairman of the Board of Directors. Jennifer Cook joins GRAIL from Roche/Genentech where she is currently head of Clinical Operations in Product Development for Roche Pharmaceuticals. Before that, she was head of Region Europe for Roche Pharmaceuticals. Cook started her career at Genentech.
Karma Automotive [IRVINE, Calif.] announced that Liang Zhou, currently CEO and President of Beijing Foton-Daimler Automotive, has been named to replace Thomas Corcoran as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Daimler, he was with Naveco, a joint venture of Iveco of Fiat and Nanjing Auto, where he was General Manager and served on the venture’s board of directors.
Edmonton Screen Industries Office (ESIO) [EDMONTON, Alberta] announced the appointment of Josh Miller as its CEO. Josh became Director of Development for Superchannel. Then from 1995 to 2003, Josh was a partner at Minds Eye Entertainment, after which he became the president of his own Canadian independent film and TV production company. Josh has served on the Board of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canadian Media Production Association, has chaired the Edmonton International Film Festival and The Edmonton Jewish Film Festival and been Chair of the Alberta Media Production Association. He has also sat on the Albert Film Advisory Council and the Edmonton Film Commission Focus Group. He currently serves as Board Secretary for the International Quorum of Motion Picture Producers.
The Omni Workspace Company (Omni) [MINNEAPOLIS] announced that Carlene Wilson, current President of Atmosphere Commercial Interiors, has been named CEO of the company. As President and CEO of Atmosphere Commercial Interiors, Wilson will succeed Tim Anderson, who has been interim CEO since late 2016. Anderson will remain Chairman of the Board for Omni. Wilson joined Atmosphere in September 2016 as National Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was promoted to President in May 2017. Wilson was previously a co-owner of the Dallas-based Steelcase dealership, BKM Total Office of Texas, and served as Chair of the Steelcase Dealer Council. Prior to BKM, she held leadership positions with Steelcase as well as several other commercial furniture dealerships.
