CGI [MONTRÉAL] (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB) announced the appointment of George D. Schindler, currently President and Chief Operating Officer, to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer and member of its Board of Directors. He will succeed Michael E. Roach who will retire from the Company on September 30, 2016, while remaining on the CGI Board of Directors.
Pier 1 Imports, Inc. [FORT WORTH, Texas] (NYSE: PIR) announced that Alex W. Smith will step down as President, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors.
Hormel Foods Corporation [AUSTIN, Minn.] (NYSE: HRL) announced that Jeffrey M. Ettinger will retire as chief executive officer on. He will continue to serve as Hormel Foods chairman of the board. The Board of Directors elected James P. Snee to be the company’s next chief executive officer. Snee currently serves as president and chief operating officer. Snee becomes president and chief executive officer of Hormel Foods after serving as president and chief operating officer since October 2015. Snee joined Hormel Foods in 1989 in the foodservice division and served in various positions within the group before being named manager of inventory and distribution for the Refrigerated Foods segment in 1995. He was promoted to foodservice area manager and foodservice regional sales manager in 1996 and 1998, respectively. Snee was named director of purchasing in 2006 and vice president of affiliated business units in 2008. He was named vice president of Hormel Foods and senior vice president of Hormel Foods International Corporation at the end of fiscal year 2011. Snee advanced to group vice president of Hormel Foods and president of Hormel Foods International Corporation in October 2012.
Avnet, Inc. [PHOENIX] (NYSE: AVT) announced that William (“Bill”) J. Amelio has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company by the Board of Directors. Mr. Amelio has been acting in the role of interim CEO of Avnet since July 11, 2016. Mr. Amelio was the president, chief executive officer and a director of CHC Group Ltd. from 2010 to 2015. From 2005 to 2009, he served as president and chief executive officer of Lenovo and was previously a regional senior vice president and president, Asia-Pacific and Japan for Dell Inc. He began his career with the Microelectronics Technology Division of IBM in 1979 and later became the General Manager Worldwide Operations of the Personal Computer Division.
Activision Blizzard, Inc. [SANTA MONICA, Calif.] (NASDAQ: ATVI) announced that veteran FOX Sports executive Pete Vlastelica has been named President and CEO of Major League Gaming (MLG). Vlastelica, who founded and sold the online sports network Yardbarker to Fox in 2010, most recently served as FOX Sports’ Executive Vice President of Digital. Previously, he managed business development at the Walt Disney Internet Group in London.
Swift Transportation Company [PHOENIX] (NYSE: SWFT) announced the retirement of Founder and CEO Jerry Moyes. Richard Stocking, who joined Swift in 1992 and has served as Swift’s President and Chief Operating Officer since 2010, has been unanimously appointed by the Board of Directors as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Moyes will serve as Founder and Chairman Emeritus and a member of the Board of Directors. Richard Stocking, has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Swift Transportation Company since July 2010 and as President and Chief Operating Officer of its trucking subsidiary, since January 2009. As part of the Swift family for a total of 25 years, Mr. Stocking has served in other leadership capacities such as Executive Vice President of Sales and Regional Vice President of Operations.
Rocky Brands, Inc. [NELSONVILLE, Ohio] (NASDAQ: RCKY) announced that Mike Brooks, Chairman of the Board of Directors, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer following the resignation of David Sharp as President and Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Company. Mr. Brooks previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Company from August 1991 to July 2011.
PulteGroup, Inc. [ATLANTA] (NYSE: PHM) announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously named Ryan Marshall, PulteGroup’s President, as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Marshall, who has also become a member of the Board, succeeds Richard J. Dugas, Jr. who earlier this year announced his intent to retire. Mr. Dugas will continue as Executive Chairman of the Board through the Company’s 2017 annual meeting of shareholders. Mr. Marshall most recently served as PulteGroup’s President. Prior to being named President, Mr. Marshall was Executive Vice President of Homebuilding Operations. Other previous roles included Area President for the Company’s Southeast Area, Area President for Florida, Division President in both South Florida and Orlando, and Area Vice President of Finance.
Avedro, Inc. [WALTHAM, Mass.] announced the appointment of Reza Zadno as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Previously, Reza was the founder, president and CEO of Visiogen, Chairman of the Board at Transcend Medical and Oraya Therapeutics. He has also been an advisor to InterWest Partners and Novartis Venture Fund.
MapR Technologies, Inc. [SAN JOSE, Calif.] announced the appointment of Matt Mills, previously president and COO, as chief executive officer and board member. Company founder and previous CEO John Schroeder will assume the role of executive chairman. Mills joined MapR after 20 years at Oracle, most recently leading the NA business while serving on the company’s executive committee.
MYOS RENS Technology Inc. [CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ] (NASDAQ: MYOS) announced the appointment of Joseph Mannello as its interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Mannello has served as a member of the Board since December 2015 and as an independent management consultant since May 2015. He previously served as Executive Managing Director and a member of the Operating Committee of Brean Capital LLC and as Executive Managing Director and as the Head of Corporate Credit of Gleacher & Company, Inc. Mr. Mannello served as a Managing Director and the Head of the Corporate Fixed Income Division of BNY Capital Markets, Inc., and founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mendham Capital Group, Inc.
assisTek [SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.] announced the appointment of Cindy Howry as Chief Executive Officer. Previously, Ms. Howry was Vice President of Product Strategy and Innovation at YPrime. Additionally, she is currently serving her 3rd term in the elected position of Vice-Director, ePRO Consortium. Her experience prior to joining YPrime includes executive management roles in clinical outcomes at Bracket Global, in operations at Arrowhead Electronic Healthcare and assisTek.
Recruitics [NEW YORK, NEW YORK] announced that Josh Gampel has been selected as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Gampel succeeds Ken Clark, who will now take on an executive role at Recruitics’ parent company, Talivity, LLC. Prior to his promotion, Gampel served as the president of Recruitics.
Morningstar, Inc. [CHICAGO] (NASDAQ: MORN) announced that its board of directors has appointed Kunal Kapoor as chief executive officer. Kapoor currently serves as president for Morningstar, has also been appointed to Morningstar’s board of directors. He succeeds company founder Joe Mansueto, will become executive chairman. Kapoor originally joined Morningstar as a data analyst in 1997 and has been president of the company since October 2015.
Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation [IRVING, TX] announced that it has hired John K. Reinhart as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Reinhart served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ascent Resources, LLC from 2014 to 2016. Prior to Ascent, Mr. Reinhart worked for Chesapeake Energy Corporation for eight years in increasing roles of importance, culminating in his role as Senior Vice President – Operations and Technical Services from 2013 to 2014. Mr. Reinhart also served Chesapeake as Vice President Operations – Eastern Division from 2009 to 2013. Prior to Chesapeake, Mr. Reinhart worked for Schlumberger Limited for eleven years in various engineering and operational leadership roles.
Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation [SALT LAKE CITY] (Pink Sheets: ESCC) announced the appointment of Jonathan Shaw as Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors, in connection with the retirement of David Bateman as the Company’s CEO and Board member. Mr. Shaw was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of E&S’s subsidiary, Spitz, Inc., in November 2001, where he held various management positions since 1985. Prior to Spitz, Jon held several engineering positions with Mobil Oil Corporation.
Opus Global [NEW YORK and LONDON] announced the appointment of Emanuele “Manny” Conti as Chief Executive Officer. Conti was most recently CEO of Kroll Inc. and before that, President of the North America and International divisions of Dun & Bradstreet.
The Melt [SAN FRANCISCO] announced the hiring of Ralph Bower, as CEO. The Melt former CEO and Founder Jonathan Kaplan will continue with the company as Chairman of the Board. Bower has held leadership positions with a variety of brands including Pei Wei, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Yum! Brands, Inc., KFC Corporation and Domino’s Pizza.
TeamHealth Holdings, Inc. [KNOXVILLE, Tenn.] (NYSE: TMH) announced the appointment of Leif Murphy as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Murphy will succeed Michael D. Snow, who is retiring. Mr. Murphy most recently served as Executive Vice President of LifePoint Health, including the role of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Development Officer. Mr. Murphy has held other senior positions at healthcare companies, including serving as CEO of DSI Renal, Inc., and before that as an executive at Caremark, Inc.
Neurotrope, Inc. [NEWARK, N.J.] (OTCQB: NTRP) announced that it has appointed Dr. Susanne Wilke as Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Wilke has experience from her work at companies including Hoffman La Roche, Amgen, and Forest Labs. Dr. Wilke also served as a Kaufman Fellow at Schroder Ventures Life Sciences, and was an Investment Principal at NGN Capital.
Les Mills International [CHICAGO] has named Brian Gagne as the new chief executive officer of Les Mills U.S. Gagne succeeds Jesper Magnusson, who is retiring. Gagne previously served as chief operating officer for Health Fitness Corporation. Previously, Gagne served as a director at Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems and as executive director for several Chicago-based medical health and fitness centers, including Gottlieb Hospital, Centegra Health System and Edward Hospital.
Symplicity [ARLINGTON, Va.] announced that Matthew Small has been hired as the company’s next President & Chief Executive Officer. Small joins Symplicity from Blackboard Inc., where he previously served as Chief Business Officer and President, International.
Axxess Pharma Inc. [TORONTO] (OTC PINK: AXXE) announced they have hired Michael Gelmon as the company’s new CEO. He replaces Axxess Pharma’s former CEO, Dr. Daniel Bagi, MD, will remain with the company as the Treasurer.
Alliant International University [SAN DIEGO] announced the appointment of Andy Vaughn as President and CEO. Vaughn has served as Interim President and CEO of the San Diego-based independent university since December 2015. Prior to joining Alliant in 2015 as Interim President, and originally as Senior Vice President, Vaughn was President and CEO of Trident University in Orange County, California where he also served as Chief Operations Officer. He started his career in higher education twenty years ago at National University in San Diego and has served in various roles at institutions including Regional Dean, President and CEO, Chief Operations Officer, Vice President of Marketing and Admissions and Associate Director of Student Services, among others. He currently serves with two separate boards including as a member of the Board of Directors for St. Luke Medical School and Central Valley Education Consortium.
CaptureRx® [SAN ANTONIO] announced that company president, Dave Byrd, has been appointed CEO. Byrd succeeds former CEO, Chris Hotchkiss, who remains chairman of CaptureRx’s board of directors. Since joining CaptureRx in 2014, Byrd has served in key leadership roles as the company’s chief financial officer, chief operations officer and president.
Vertafore [BOTHELL, Wash.] announced the appointment of Amy Zupon as its new Chief Executive Officer. She joins Vertafore from P2 Energy Solutions where she has served as Chief Executive Officer, and will succeed Jeff Hawn.
AlterG [FREMONT, Calif.] announced the appointment of Sanjay Gupta as CEO. Mr. Gupta comes to AlterG from Johnson & Johnson, where he held both domestic and international positions. Most recently, Mr. Gupta served as president of Johnson & Johnson’s Wellness & Prevention division.
Alaska Power & Telephone [PORT TOWNSEND, Wash.] announced that Michael Garrett has been selected to replace long-time President and CEO Robert Grimm as the new CEO. Garrett, AP&T’s COO and Executive Vice President is currently serving as President of the Alaska Exchange Carriers Association and has recently served as President of the Alaska Telephone Association.
BSD [ATLANTA] announced the appointment of Christopher Anderson as its new president and CEO. Chris Anderson is replacing Robert Paul Dean who will remain as BSD’s chairman of the board. Prior to his acceptance of the position at BSD, Mr. Anderson served as Vice President, Data Strategy & Consulting with The Gordian Group. Prior to the Gordian Group position, Chris was General Manager at RS Means.
