Staples, Inc. [FRAMINGHAM, Mass.] (NASDAQ: SPLS) announced that the Board of Directors of Staples and Ron Sargent have mutually agreed that he will step down from the position of Chief Executive Officer after the Company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders on June 14, 2016, at which time Shira Goodman, Staples’ President, North America Operations, will become interim Chief Executive Officer. Upon re-election at the Annual Meeting, Sargent will continue to serve as a director and non-executive Chairman through the Company’s 2016 fiscal year ending on January 28, 2017.
Fitbit, Inc. [SAN FRANCISCO] (NYSE: FIT) announced that Laura Alber, president and chief executive officer of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. has joined the Fitbit, Inc. board of directors. Ms. Alber has served as the president and CEO of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. since 2010.
Bechtel [RESTON, Va.] announced executive leadership changes that will be effective September 1, 2016. Bechtel CEO Bill Dudley will become vice-chairman of the Bechtel Group, Inc. Brendan Bechtel, current president & COO, succeeds Dudley as CEO. Previously, Brendan Bechtel served in a variety of operational and executive roles including president of OG&C, general manager of its liquefied natural gas business.
Quiznos [DENVER] announced the resignation of Doug Pendergast as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Katie Scherping, current Chief Financial Officer, will serve as Interim President and CEO. Scherping joined the Quiznos team in December 2013 as Chief Financial Officer.
The Priceline Group [NORWALK, Conn.] (NASDAQ: PCLN) announced that Brett Keller has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer of priceline.com, a subsidiary business of The Priceline Group. Paul J. Hennessy, who has acted as CEO of priceline.com since 2015, has resigned. Mr. Keller most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of the business, and prior to that, as Chief Marketing Officer. Keller joined priceline.com in 1999. Prior to joining priceline.com, Brett managed Cendant’s online travel businesses as a Director of Online Travel. He also serves on the board of directors for Broadridge Financial Solutions.
Cobalt International Energy, Inc. [HOUSTON] (NYSE: CIE) announced the appointment of Timothy J. Cutt as Chief Executive Officer and as a Class I member of the Board of Directors, each effective July 2, 2016. Mr. Cutt assumes the CEO role from Joseph H. Bryant who has resigned as the Company’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Board of Directors, each effective June 1, 2016. Mr. Cutt served as President, Petroleum of BHP Billiton, accountable for its global oil and gas business from July 2013 until March 2016. Mr. Cutt joined BHP Billiton in 2007 as the President of the Production Division. Before joining BHP Billiton, Mr. Cutt held positions in engineering, operations and senior management for 25 years with Mobil Oil Corporation and then ExxonMobil.
Match Group [NEW YORK] announced that it has hired Elie Seidman as Chief Executive Officer of OkCupid. Elie Seidman joins OkCupid from BorrowersFirst where he served as CRO. Previously he was COO of BillMo. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and CEO of Oyster.com. He was a Venture Partner at Lime Rock Partners and the Founder, President and CEO of Epana.
Hemlock Semiconductor [HEMLOCK, Mich] announced that Mark Bassett has been named chairman and CEO. Bassett, served as global vice president of The Dow Chemical Company’s Polyurethanes business, replaces Denise Beachy, who has been named commercial director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India for Dow’s Elastomers, and Electrical and Telecommunications business. Bassett was appointed to his previous role as global vice president of Dow’s Polyurethanes business in 2012. Prior to this role, he served as global business director for Dow Oxygenated Solvents. Bassett’s diverse career started at Union Carbide Corporation in 1989.
CoBank [DENVER] announced that Robert B. Engel, Chief Executive Officer will leave CoBank upon the completion of his current employment agreement on June 30, 2017. The bank also announced that Tom Halverson has been named as the bank’s new chief executive officer effective January 1, 2017. Halverson is currently CoBank’s chief banking officer. Engel and Halverson will remain in their current positions until January 1, 2017, after which Engel will move into a strategic advisory role. Halverson joined CoBank in 2013. Previously, Halverson spent more than 16 years in a variety of executive positions with Goldman Sachs, including managing director and chief of staff for Goldman Sachs Bank USA, head of credit risk management for Goldman Sachs in Asia (ex-Japan) and executive director of credit risk management and advisory in London. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he served as principal credit officer for country risk at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
EMCOR Group, Inc. [NORWALK, Conn.] (NYSE: EME) announced the election of M. Kevin McEvoy to the Company’s Board of Directors. Mr. McEvoy is the Chief Executive Officer of Oceaneering International, Inc. (NYSE: OII). Mr. McEvoy first joined Oceaneering in 1984, and has been its Chief Executive Officer and a member of its Board of Directors since 2011. Mr. McEvoy also currently serves as Chairman of the National Ocean Industry Association, a director of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers’ Association, and is a member of the National Petroleum Council.
Magellan Gold Corporation [RENO, Nevada] (OTCBB: MAGE) announced the appointment of W. Pierce Carson, PhD, as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Previously Dr. Carson was President of Gulf & Western Industries, Inc., the Company’s 85% owned minerals subsidiary. Among the companies he has worked for are Exxon Minerals Company, Kennecott Copper Corporation, Nord Pacific Limited and Santa Fe Gold Corporation. John C. Power, formerly President of Magellan, will continue in the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Director.
Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) [CHICAGO] announced that Alan Whitman has become chairman and CEO, after serving for a period as CEO-Elect. Outgoing Chairman and CEO Tim Christen will continue his responsibilities as chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and with various Baker Tilly and Baker Tilly International committees. Prior to serving as CEO, Whitman was the managing partner for Baker Tilly’s Detroit office. He also led the international services practice for the firm. Prior to joining Baker Tilly, he served as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Erie Indemnity Company [ERIE, Pa.] (NASDAQ: ERIE), the managing company for Erie Insurance, named Timothy G. NeCastro its president and CEO-designate. He will succeed current President & CEO Terrence W. Cavanaugh, who joined Erie Insurance in 2008 and previously announced his retirement for later this year. NeCastro joined Erie Insurance in 1996 as manager of internal auditing and was promoted to senior vice president and controller in 1997. In 2008, he took on the role of senior vice president of product and policy services. Since 2010, he has held the position of senior vice president and regional officer of ERIE’s west region. Prior to joining Erie Insurance, NeCastro held positions as the director of finance at Plastek Group and as a senior manager at Ernst & Young.
Excel Technologies [FAIRFAX, Va.] announced the appointment of Debra Yamanaka as Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Yamanaka was previously Vice President, responsible for overseeing corporate service offerings and operations in the Federal Civilian market. Before joining the Excel team, Ms. Yamanaka served in leadership positions at firms that include SRA International and HP (EDS).
CardioDx, Inc. [REDWOOD CITY, CA] announced the appointment of Khush Mehta as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of CardioDx. As CEO, Mehta succeeds David Levison, who has been named the Chief Strategy Officer of the company. Prior to joining CardioDx, he served as the Global Head of the Healthcare Enterprise Solutions at Siemens. Mehta has also held additional executive leadership roles at Siemens Healthcare, including Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Siemens Healthcare Asia Pacific.
Blu® Homes, Inc. [VALLEJO, Calif.] announced the promotion of Kaitlin Burek Haggerty to become its Chief Executive Officer. Kaitlin served as Blu’s Chief Operating Officer for the last two years, and has held various roles at Blu homes since 2010. Blu’s board will continue to be led by former CEO Bill Haney, now in the capacity of Executive Chairman. Prior to joining Blu Homes, Kaitlin worked in business development at a technology company building Latin American renewable energy markets. Prior to this she worked in the Boston office of Bain & Company.
Sterigenics International LLC [DEERFIELD, Ill.] announced that Michael B. Petras, Jr. has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), effective June 20, 2016. Mr. Petras succeeds Michael Mulhern, who has been appointed to serve as Executive Chairman of the Sterigenics Board of Directors. Mr. Petras most recently served as President of Cardinal Health, Inc.’s Post-Acute Solutions businesses. Before joining Cardinal, Mr. Petras was the CEO for AssuraMed. He also worked at General Electric for more than two decades, including serving as President and CEO at GE Lighting and Industrial. Mr. Petras also serves on The Cleveland Clinic’s Board of Directors.
DCS Corporation [ALEXANDRIA, Va.] announced the appointment of Jim Benbow as Chief Executive Officer. Retiring Chief Executive Officer and President Jim Wood will transition to non-Executive Chairman of the DCS Board. Jim Benbow’s 17 years with DCS includes the 12 years in his most recent role as DCS Chief Business Development Officer.
Syros Pharmaceuticals [CAMBRIDGE, Mass.] announced that Sanj K. Patel, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals, has been appointed to the Company’s Board of Directors. Before founding Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals in 2015, Mr. Patel was President and Chief Executive Officer of Synageva BioPharma Corp. as well as a director of the company. Prior to Synageva, Mr. Patel served in a variety of senior leadership roles at Genzyme Corp. from 1999-2008, including head of U.S. Sales, Marketing and Commercial Operations for Genzyme Therapeutics’ Lysosomal Storage Disorder franchise, Vice President of Clinical Research and Head of the Global Clinical Research Operations Council. Earlier in his career, Mr. Patel held roles in clinical research and commercial operations at Burroughs Wellcome, Hoechst Marrion Roussel and Fujisawa Pharmaceuticals. He is currently a member of the board of directors of BioCryst Pharmaceuticals.
Ominto, Inc. [BOCA RATON, Fla.] (OTC PK: OMNT) announced that Michael Hansen, the company’s Founder, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Mitch Hill, who has been serving as Interim CEO since January, will continue as an Executive Board member.
F-Secure Corporation [SAN JOSE, CA] announced that Christian Fredrikson, President and CEO, has resigned to pursue a leadership opportunity outside the company. The F-Secure Board of Directors has appointed Samu Konttinen as the new President and CEO, effective August 1, 2016. Konttinen joined F-Secure in 2005 and has held a wide range of senior management positions in the company, including Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Executive Vice President of F-Secure’s Consumer Business. Most recently he served as Executive Vice President Corporate Security Business.
Radius [BOSTON] announced that Stephen Chipman, former CEO of Grant Thornton U.S., has been named CEO. Chipman takes over from Chris Stone, who has stepped down as CEO but will remain a member of Radius’ board of directors. During his 34-year tenure with Grant Thornton, Chipman held leadership positions in Europe, North America and Asia. He served as the firm’s senior vice chairman, CEO of Grant Thornton China Management Corporation – where he helped create a single national Chinese firm with more than 2,500 people in 17 offices – and finally U.S. CEO.
Kids Care Dental [SACRAMENTO, Calif.] announced the appointment of Janet Widmann as CEO. Widmann served as a senior executive for nearly a decade at Blue Shield of California, most recently as executive vice president of markets. Widmann is currently a trustee of the Health Professions Education Foundation, and also serves on the board of Avista Corporation (NYSE: AVA).
Stratasys Ltd. [MINNEAPOLIS & REHOVOT, Israel] (NASDAQ: SSYS) announced that David Reis has decided to step down from his position as the Chief Executive Officer, effective June 30, 2016. Mr. Reis will remain a member of the Stratasys board of directors as an Executive Director. Effective July 1, Ilan Levin, a member of the Board and Executive Committee of Stratasys, will assume the role of CEO. Mr. Levin has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Objet since 2000 and served as President and Vice Chairman of the Objet Board prior to the Stratasys-Objet merger in 2012.
Mobiquity, Inc. [WALTHAM, MA] announced that it has appointed John Castleman as the new Chief Executive Officer. Andy Norman has served as the Interim CEO since December 9, 2015 and will shift into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Most recently Castleman served as President and CEO of Alliance Global Services Inc.
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney [PITTSBURGH] announced that Joseph A. Dougherty took over as the firm’s CEO, managing director and chairman of the board. Buchanan’s former CEO, John “Jack” A. Barbour transitions to the position of executive chairman. Dougherty will serve a three-year term after which he will be eligible for re-election to a second term. In his new role, Barbour returns to the practice of law to work with some the firm’s most tenured and key clients.
Associated Aircraft Manufacturing and Sales, Inc. (AAMSI) [FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.] announced the appointment of Dennis Zalupski to the position of President and CEO. Concurrently, Mr. Zalupski will also join the Board of Directors of AAMSI. Mr. Zalupski most recently served as Senior Vice President & General Manager – Materials Group for AerSale, Inc. Prior to AerSale, he served as the President & CEO of Kellstrom Industries. Mr. Zalupski first joined Kellstrom in June 2001 as Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing and later was appointed President, Kellstrom Commercial Aerospace. In 2005, he was appointed President, Kellstrom Industries. In April 2006, Mr. Zalupski assumed the Chief Executive position and was elected to Kellstrom’s Board of Managers. Mr. Zalupski started his career with Whirlpool Corporation (USA) where he spent 10 years in various sales and distribution positions before joining GE in 1989. After ten years in various domestic and International positions with GE, he was appointed General Manager-Sales for GE Engine Services.
The American Association of Payers, Administrators and Networks (AAPAN) [WASHINGTON] announced that Julian Roberts will lead the organization as President and CEO. Roberts succeeds Karen Greenrose who recently retired after serving in that position for the past four years.
Sangamo BioSciences, Inc. [RICHMOND, Calif.] (NASDAQ: SGMO) announced the appointment of Alexander ‘Sandy’ Macrae as president and chief executive officer to succeed current president and CEO, Edward Lanphier. Mr. Lanphier will continue as a member of the board of directors and will assume the chairmanship of the board immediately following the 2016 annual meeting of stockholders which will be held on June 14, 2016. Dr. Macrae most recently served as global medical officer of Takeda Pharmaceuticals. In the 15 years prior, Dr. Macrae held roles of increasing responsibility at Smith Kline Beecham and Glaxo SmithKline (GSK), where his last role was as Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets Research and Development (R&D).
AchieveIt Online, LLC [ATLANTA, GA] announced that it has appointed Christy Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining AchieveIt, Johnson served as Chief Operating Officer for Buckhead Investment Partners and BIP Capital. Johnson has been serving as interim CEO since November, 2015.
Playboy Enterprises, Inc. [BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.] announced that Ben Kohn, Managing Partner at Rizvi Traverse, the private equity firm that holds a majority stake in Playboy, has been appointed interim CEO of the company. The move follows the exit of Scott Flanders. While overseeing operations at Playboy Enterprises, Mr. Kohn will continue in his role as Managing Partner at Rizvi Traverse. Mr. Flanders, who joined the company as CEO in 2009, will remain on Playboy’s Board of Directors and will retain his ownership interest in the company.
Exar Corporation [FREMONT, Calif.] (NYSE: EXAR) announced that it has appointed Ryan A. Benton as Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Benton will replace Richard L. Leza, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Benton joined Exar in December 2012 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Benton’s experience includes a range of leadership positions at companies including, ASMI International NV, eFunds, SoloPower, and Synapsense. Mr. Benton currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pivotal Systems, Inc.
CPG International LLC [CHICAGO] announced that Jesse Singh has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer, replacing Eric K. Jungbluth, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Mr. Singh was most recently a corporate officer of 3M. Throughout his 14-year career at 3M, he served in a variety of escalating leadership roles at the company including President of 3M Health Information Systems, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Vice President of Stationary and Office Supplies, including leading the Scotch® and Post-it® brands, and President of Sumitomo 3M.
United Way of San Diego County [SAN DIEGO] selected Dr. Laurie Coskey as the new president and CEO. An ordained rabbi, Coskey served for the past 15 years as the executive director of the Interfaith Center for Worker Justice. Coskey is chairperson of the San Diego Community College District trustee advisory council and the chairperson of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation board of directors.
